I was lucky with many cars, not needing full resto but doing some upgrades and modifications. This was what I would call a restoration- my grandmoms 72 Lemans

    Working on it!
1967 Ford Mustang - 289 with C4 automatic transmission. I bought it for $400 and we pulled it home behind our truck. My Dad was a shade-tree mechanic and I worked summers (14 yo, still in HS) to buy parts to rebuild the car engine, transmission, and anything else. The interior looked bad and the back seat walls looked like someone had puked down both of them. I couldn't afford to reupholster the seats, so we decided to go to junkyards to see if we could find a set of seats (and would rely on them to decide the exterior paint color). I spent a many of Saturday summers walking in local Alabama junkyards (100+ degrees) looking for original parts to replace the crapped-out ones. We found a perfect set of original seats in a 68 - two tone blue, so I ended up painting the exterior Brittany Blue (metallic). Awesome car to have and drive...still wish I had it.

My first car was a 1964 1/2 mustang. I bought it in 1984 for $800. I was 15yrs old. I loved that car! 5yrs later a drunk driver ran a stop sign and totalled her. I stripped her of everything I could salvage in hopes of buying another one some day. I never did but I do still have all the parts. I did buy a 1970 GTO 12 yrs ago. I got it for $2,500 and have been restoring her ever since. I love this car. But there's still a place in my heart for my first mustang!Screenshot_20180616-143408.jpg

I walked away! I must have been knocked out for a minute because when I got out of my car there was a crowd of people around. The driver that hit me had ran off. But the police found him a little while later. They told me he was drunk. I really missed that car for a long time! I still do!

Order a new tank from year one, easiest thing to do and direct bolt in. Use old gas gauge if you can.

10-4. I had to order new sending unit as well due to the original have been sitting in that old gas crud and junk for the last decade or so. Ordered new fuel line as well, since the original was a 5/16" to supply the 2 barrel Rochester she came with. My plan for the car is to get her back on the road and drive her as is. Not going to let her sit any longer! Don't have the means to do a full restore project, therefore running and drive able is all I care about! Plus the originality tells the story of where she has been, specifically since I have owned her since August 2002. Oh the stories she could tell....Like this front fender, or about the guy that chased me down after a car show to inquire if I would sell my front AND rear bumper guards to him as he couldn't find them, yeah I couldn't either so I kept mine, or that one time in front of our high school during the home coming game with that one girl, or the time I scared some school buddies so no one ask me for a ride,.... And list goes on and on and on.........

Mine was a 1970 Oldsmobile 98 Luxury Sedan.
Inherited from my Dad and all downhill from there!
It had a 454 Olds Rocket V8 and gas was under 30 cents a gallon and that baby could fly, whether moving or not.

I actually traded it in on the only new car that I have ever owned and in the rear view mirror I could see it catch on fire from a bad brake as I drove away.

To give you an idea of how much things have changed here that car had a Bar in the back seat!Complete with Crystal Decanter and Glasses!
They actually encouraged Drinking and Driving back then.

The best part is that a few years ago I was in Downeast Maine on a job of all places and I drove right by what looked like the exact same car sitting on a lot for sale!
It was a trip seeing the car again but this one was in amazing superficial condition and the details were all the same,it was sort of freaky really.

Thanks and I wish mine were that clean!
It was a LuxoBarge though for sure and many fond memories were made to say the least!
Yours is pretty sweet too though and the transformation for sure is/was!

My mom had one like that too, but in orange. She still reminds me of how I broke the 8 track player by jamming a pencil in it as a young child.

I was really hard on cars, especially my first on. Lucky to be alive, looking back now.

Well, I have run into a corner and that is I am not getting spark from the distributor. I think its the ignition module inside the distributor but won't know till further testing. Also the new fuel tank is in, just need to make plans to pick it up ASAP. Time moves slow as molasses now..............
