I dealt with Allstate last year over a stolen car(stupid damn Hyundai ignitions...), was so not impressed. Adjuster was out of an office a couple towns over, never once saw them, barely spoke to them on the phone. Took them a few days to actually go look at the car after it was recovered. Car was transferred to a 3rd party lot where I had to drop the title off to. Only time I saw the car was when the cops recovered it and texted me some photos. Over all, Allstate just felt really hands off during the whole thing. And this was an old policy tied to a home owners policy that had been set up through a local agent. The claims process was extremely cold and corporate. I had a much better experience with Progressive with stolen motorcycles during covid as far as actually talking to a local person.

I think this is ultimately all insurance companies these days, to different degrees.

Like, @KNABORES is not wrong about USAA. The customer interaction has definitely changed, it's not the same. But my experience has been, in sharing claim stories with friends who have other companies is, what their companies offered 15-20 years ago is what USAA offers today. Thing is, their companies have backslid the same amount from their former midgrade position. To put it in bar terms, USAA was 'top shelf' and has degraded to 'call'. Other carriers were 'call' and have degraded to 'well'. We're pretty universally getting screwed, and it'll probably continue to go downhill, until insurance isn't really worth buying anymore, then things will suddenly change.
