    More to come.
Hello crew, new member recently purchased a 2010 Tundra after owning a SR5 and 1st gen Sequoia.

I’m doing a fluid overhaul and 100,000 mile maintenance this week.

My question is has anyone repurposed the rear view mirror backup display?

My idea is to upgrade the tailgate camera for the new radio display currently in the vehicle and then run a secondary “flood” camera to the passenger mirror. Video would go to the reverse camera in the rear view mirror.
Reverse camera would be the standard reverse camera on the tail gate to the new head unit.

Current setup is camera to mirror in reverse. Very small, and poor quality. Head unit goes blank when in reverse.

Im looking for wiring tips or possibly a how to forum post if anyone else has ever accomplished this.
Still in my research is it worth it phase.

    Thanks.

I just got the truck and need to finish the full tuneup before I start worrying about the cameras.

However, I figured I’d get the ball rolling.
If I wire the original camera back to the original screen it would stay at the 6volts. Then I would just run an aftermarket 12v hd camera from the tailgate and do a fresh install from scratch. I don’t want to waste the rear mirror monitor and I’d love to be able to see that passenger side when reversing or even pulling into a spot to be honest.
Maybe I run it to a switch??
