Thank you for this information. I have been holding out for one of my friends that wants to buy his wife a new sequoia for her birthday until this engine issue has been tentatively resolved.

I would take a 100% built Tundra from Japan hands down over the San Antonio built Tundra. The US is years...........................behind in Quality control-management.

Seems to work with the 4Runner platforms - Quality on these are fantastic and all built in Japan. I align with your point on delayed roll-out. But the positive outlook is, it was caught before fielded to the general public. Isn't this what QC/QA is all about?.

Connecting rod has bearings, they can be oil starved, too.

Also a fellow forum member from Arabia posted a video with TLC300 and new Lexus (I think), all built in Japan, with the same main bearing starved to death problem.

I can bet my 401k it is a design problem with that engine.

Not much. I pay for fuel for not one, but two gen 2 vehicles. Can't afford anything, only saving for fuel.

Not buying the single shooter theory. lol. Toyota is just playing the car manufacturer game now. Don’t confirm to the public that they have a major problem. Keep saying they figured out the problem to keep sales going until they actually figure it out. We’ve already heard this a few times. Bad batch of parts, contamination in cleaning process, now they figured out one person has been causing this. That should buy another few months. I call BS.

    Thanks for this clarification.
I'm surprised and the idea of one person causing this seems unthinkable.
I have spent time doing IT recovery plans for the Honda plant in Alliston Ontario a number of years ago.
Everyone (IT / Finance/Acct depts) wore white coats and sat beside each other on long tables. As opposed to the common individual isolated cubicles.
They made me put on a white coat.
Toured the plant and I saw how organized and to the task people were on the assembly line.
As robotic as people can be.
I know the kind of standards we had to pass to just get in there and work temporarily, let alone full time.
I just assumed Toyota was the same (Japanese Culture) if not more like this.
But this was many years ago - maybe things are not so, whats the word I am looking for ...

    Nitrogen filled tires!

probably drives an earlier model year (Gen1, Gen2 or Gen2.5) Tundra and just could not tolerate having the Gen3 be so popular - at least that would make sense based on the majority of the post the referenced model year owners make on the Gen3 site. :boink:

Only $32.542,24 in parts since 2012. No fuel, oil, tires. Parts only. Probably have another 1k in new Volvo parts littering my garage.

I’m sure the guy that took that Video picked up the kitty.
Unfortunately, that's more common than you may think, and a lot more common than a rumored Toyota disgruntled worker.
    Only time will tell.
And fwiw - if the cat wasn't declawed it has a chance if there's a forest nearby, or it becomes food. Cats are this side of wild.

One bad apple can spoil the barrel. When I worked for Motorola installing turnkey cellular systems for Verizon, Sprint, etc, we had one person in the group that the rest of us were constantly cleaning up the mess left behind.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
I purchased a 2022 Tundra with a build date of 6/22. Sure it was a risk knowing it could have some glitches but this is my 4th Tundra and at that time financially I was offered a lot of money for my 2017 Tundra.

So I purchased the Toyota Platinum warranty from a Toyota vendor I found on this website.
It covers 7 years or 125,000 whichever comes first. 0 deductible Toyota warranty. For under $2 grand. Just a piece of mind for any glitches I may encounter.
