I've only had my Tundra a few weeks and a lot of you people have been very helpful responding back to me on questions so I thought so it's my turn after putting this brake controller through its paces, I have a 6 by 12 enclosed trailer with electric brakes I set the gain to 5.0. I use the brake controller manually two of the trailer tire started to lock up. Then I set the game control to 4.5 I liked it at that setting. Then I set the brake controller to go past the 5000 pound Mark at that point the braking was even more aggressive. The only thing I don't like about the setup is that every time I changed the gane sometimes I have to push the button 3 or 4 times before it will go up or down on the scale it's not a smooth transition not sure if anyone else is having this problem. Hope this helps.

I have the "Gain" button issue, as well as others on here do. My dealer has replaced the switch, problem lessen, but still there. They opened a case with Toyota, that was a few weeks ago, nothing new. Can't recall who but someone had their tech notice the circuit board in the controller was on a bind, and releived the bind and the issue appeared to go away. I told them I will continue to prusue the issue until resiolved.

Glad to hear peolpe are having luck with the stock controller. I left my Tekonsha P3 installed when we sold our Tacoma. I'll be testing mine out this weekend with my 7x16.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears most issues involve the 2018 models?

No, the 2016 and 2017 had their own issues (didn't work worth *hit) but the TSB improved the function quite a bit, it appeared the reprogramming increased the output so they would actually stop a trailer. I know because I has a 2016 and was a pain in their rear on the issue.
