You hear the rhythmic dead spot? That's a cylinder with no compression. The engine stops spinning right after you hear it the 7th time.

Full disclosure - I'm no mechanic.

Exactly one year goes by... nothing

    Then.... July 30 2025

Has the truck ever started from July 2024? Is the truck sitting all year at a summer vacation home or?

It hasn't been started since then, I just went and stuck in a fully charged battery. Last I did was add some fuel and replaced O2 sensors.

I'm afraid I was right in post 6 on page 1. Bent valve would cause cylinder to lose compression. Can you tell if the dead hole is in the same side you rolled the cam?

The RPM gauge doesn't move, so could this also be a crankshaft sensor issue? Maybe messed up wiring, or installed incorrectly? Or could a cylinder still cause this?

I'd think you'd still get an RPM reading with a dead hole - but not getting a reading from the crank sensor would explain why it isn't trying to fire - it isn't getting fuel.

Might want to do a compression test at this point. If a cylinder has no compression (or very little) chasing anything else is probably moot.

Just note that bad compression numbers on individual or even multiple cylinders is NOT necessarily a sign of major failure. Bad numbers on a single cylinder can be a stuck valve, for example. Or even on multiple cylinders, could be that your timing is off.

I couldn't find the Compression test kit that day, but went out recently when I found the time and rented one.

However the truck started up after I reinstalled the Crankshaft Sensor.
It only has code p0335, I went ahead and erased it. I can't take it anywhere yet because it still needs new tires and a coolant flush.
Here are some videos, let me know if you guys hear anything peculiar. I want to say starting up sounds kind of weaker than I remember, but also smoother? There might also be some kind of knocking that I don't recall. Its been a while though.

Well it's awesome it is running. It's definitely got some clatter going - how sure are you the timing is right?

Its an ACDelco belt and the line marks were strange, some directly on the tooth and others in between 2 teeth. I've had people tell me before that I probably installed it as good as it gets, so I would say at most maybe only 1 tooth off.

Compression test probably still a good idea - but I don't know what else you can do other than listen close and look out for engine codes.

if you have techstream you can watch live data on misfire counts...

Here is a cold start on my 2005 sequoia for comparison. These engines are normally very quiet in my experience with this one and a GX before it.
