You get used to it quickly I must say…takes about 3-5 seconds to boot up and then another 5 on that screen

I apologize in advance for asking for clarity. If you don't renew any of the connected services on a JBL 14" it pushes an ad out for the services every time you start? If you get the $15/month remote connect does it push any advertising for services on start up? Thanks.

the $15 service is either a music lovers/remote start or the nav/remote start package. I can confirm that having subscribed to the $15/mo music lover package that it does not get rid of the ad. Im assuming it would get rid of the ad if you were to get the $15 navigation/remote start or the $25 all in one

Even thought I don't have my Tundra yet I know this ad will drive me nuts once the subscription expire after 3 year trial.
Funny thing, my 2020 Tacoma came with built in non-subscription navigation with maximum 3 map updates in first 36 months. 32 of these months passed already and there were no updates available :rofl:Oh, Toyota!

I called them this week and tried to get them to extend my Connected Services to three years because of all the Toyotas I have purchased but they won't budge. I advised them of all the ill will that is brewing but they don't seem to care yet. They did tell me that my Navigation Package is for three years. LOL.

ill be switching to the nav package soon. Trying to access Amazon music has been horrible even with solid signal strength....thats more frustrating than the start up nav ad

I believe that Apple Music or Amazon music subscription is not included, just the ability to stream from your phone without using your phone’s data plan. Most people don’t realize how much data they use each month from streaming their online music service, including Spotify or Pandora music. I May be wrong, so please let me know. If Toyota is willing to pay for my Apple Music subscription, I would jump on that because at $11/month, paying $4 more is more acceptable to me to get remote services from Toyota. Not that I want to pay for any of it, but would definitely consider it.

To be clear, the music lovers sub gives you an Apple Music subscription from Apple? If so, are you able to use it on other apple devices like my Apple TV, HomePod, iPhone??? Or is it just a Toyota subscription where they own it and it only works while on the Tundra Head Unit? If just on Tundra HU, that’s not good since I listen to Apple Music outside of the Tundra.

Ok, sounds like Toyota made a special agreement with Apple and Amazon to get music service - they probably get a great discount to offer these services because the remote service by itself was supposed to $8. Only getting music while driving my vehicle is bogus and not a good deal considering I get multiple devices to listen to music.

Basically from $15.87 you’re paying for the internet service to run the system. How much is the cheapest someone can pay for cellular phone service?

    thats apples to oranges comparsion.

a better setup would be how much a month are you using your cellphone in your vehicle and pro rate that compared to your cell plans cost.

i personally burn thru 1-2 tb of data on my cellphone outside my vehicle. some months its more than my desktop use. (too many YT vids mostly, with some tiktok)

I would be willing to pay if and only if they make the digital key function work. It's baked into the head unit but Toyota still has yet to enable it.

Someone needs to start a petition to bring back the $8 remote start only option we were all promised.

meh, if they dont i will install a drone. better features and better gps tracking than toyota'a anyway.

plus i can run the remote start up to 25 mins each instead of the measly 10 mins (for the ND winters it helps). wife had to remote start twice as times during the winter here. gets annoying having to remember starting again after 10 mins. at least the drone gives parking light visual confirmations that the truck is running. the toyota remote start doesnt give any visual indication the truck is running except the exhaust and you have to view our garage security cams to see it since the exhaust is on the driver side now instead of the passenger side.

Toyota isn’t a data provider. They just make these services available for us so enjoy them if you can or like.

I sold my 2010 4Runner Limited and bought a 2023 Tundra Limited. The Runner had a DVD based nav system which I never updated the map disc and it worked fine for me throughout my ownership. Now the current owner of that vehicle still has a 2010 nav system that works for that owner because they paid a premium for the limited model that included navigation.
I also paid a premium for my 2023 Tundra limited that includes navigation. And now that extra money I paid for the limited model with navigation feature will stop working after one year of ownership….
This sounds like a warranty issue to me…

Does your old truck have apple car play so that you can mirror goggle and apple map NAV for free?

No, it didn’t. There are times when I want to go somewhere and I don’t necessarily need my phone, so I don’t take it. However, I am 58 years old so I don’t always have a phone glued to my hand 24/7

Mine is showing $12 for just maps and toy phone app and $15 for everything expires next March 2024. Does the price go up the longer you wait?

*now the $12 package is gone! Grrrr

The remote engine start allows me to start the engine twice only when I was oversea for three weeks. Also I knew my tires were inflated and still on the truck which was still parked in the same spot.

I just spoke to someone at Toyota via 800-331-4331, she asked if I was a united States resident and said it was $8 a month just for remote connect. That I didn't have to get drive connect as well. I guess enough people bitched and they listened. I still hate to pay for something like that and may not, but it is nice to know if my doors are locked and I can start the truck anywhere. Anyone else spoken to them recently or continued their subscription?

I actually had this happen a couple of months after I got the truck. I tried to add my wife as a remote user and somehow it deleted both of us. I had to call Toyota and they did a hard reset on my radio, which fixed it. Just goes to show you it's not a perfected service. Have you spoken to them since?

My remote subscription just expired and I was shocked to find out that I could only get Remote Connect as part of a bundle with stuff I won't use. Glad that I found this thread. I'll contact Toyota and add my voice to the issue, the more the better! Even at $80/yr I would still hesitate. I typically have my vehicles for 10yrs, so that's $800 just for the remote start that only runs for 10 minutes, then shuts off when I opened the door to get in (hate that!). My wife just bought a new Hyundai Tucson and her remote start runs for 20 minutes and does not kill the engine when opening the door. Considering that my 2022 Tundra is almost double the cost of my old 2012 Tundra I expected better.

Totally agree with you. My 19 Chevy work truck ran for 15 but I could hop in and it would continue running. Mine expired about 2 weeks ago, I'm gonna see if I actually need the remote option before I restart the subscription. So far the only thing I miss is the unlocked door notification.
