When I lived in Jackson Hole, WY it was $750 a year. No income tax, WY get the money from somewhere. Why not from one of the richest county in US. Here in ID $55.00 a year:thumbsup:

Same here. I had no idea other states charged this much. I've only lived in TN and Florida an adult.

I've actually been wondering how poor people afford to live in these places. $1,000, or even $500 is a lot of money for some people. I think most of this forum is well into the middle class territory with their $50K trucks(plus people that are just in debt up to their asses), but I don't know how the people living paycheck to paycheck can afford to shell out that kind of money. It amazes me that people are paying that much just for permission to drive on the roads their tax dollars paid for.

Seriously, I am very surprised by these numbers.

I guess $216 isn’t that bad compared to some (which I still think it’s ridiculously high). You would probably be more shocked at other high fees we pay such as Varazano Bridge $19 and some parking tickets over $200. NYC cost of living continues to outgrow the pay raises substantially.

What form do you fill out to get the weight amended? I went in to my local vehicle licensing branch and was told that they could not modify the weight reported by the manufacturer.

You need to go to one of the certified scales to get it weighed, then take that slip to the local licensing branch to have it amended. https://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/scales.html

Here's the email I got from the DOL customer service team on this topic:

    Thank you for your email.

Please visit aVehicle Licensing Officewith the weight slip issued by the certified scale house – you can request the update to the record immediately.

After the record update is complete, you’d need to apply for a refund using the Vehicle/Vessel Refund Request form found here:https://www.dol.wa.gov/forms/420454.pdf

I hope this answers your questions, let me know if you have any further!

    Thank you,

    Carolyn

You should post a step-by-step of what you did down in the WA subforum then ask a Mod to make it a sticky.

    Interesting. I’m also in South Carolina but I think I paid $700plus for a 2019 Tundra1794. I guess it’s % of purchased price.

I transferred plates from one of my trades, so I only paid $5XX instead of the full $8XX in Wyoming. It's offset by lower property taxes and no state income tax. It also drops every year by a set amount, but only for the first 5 or 6 years. Then you just have a fixed amount.
