I just got home and I did what a couple of people told me to do, which was to pull out and up on the tab and slide the pin out. It worked!!!. Problem now is that even though I removed the pin, the hitch is really stuck on there. I'm trying to removed it but it's really on there. Any suggestions? I was trying to bang it out with a rock, but I'm going to try with a hammer. It should just pull straight out right?IMG_6968.jpgIMG_6971.jpg

Hammer or a hatchet. You won't hurt something you don't care about. Crowbar if you have the room maybe? I'd probably start swinging the eight pound hammer at it to see if it loosens it if nothing else.

Sounds like it's rusted together. Few taps with a hammer should break it free. Yes, it should pull straight out.

This. I have the same pin. I hated messing with carter keys so I bought this. Great quick release hitch pin.

Worse case scenario cctundra, put some heat on it. Heat gun or small propane torch. $20-30 @ home cheapo. Should break free from the smack of a maul. Good luck and don't forget your safety glasses. :D

Sorry guys. I have not gotten to it yet. Yesterday I got tied up with my 15 month old daughter. I will try to tackle it once I get home today. I'm thinking about using a hammer or something like that. I'm wondering if using something like WD40 might work? I don't know about a torch. I'm hoping that with some WD40 and wacking it with a hammer might do the trick.

Whack it from different angles, it'll shake free. That's the best kind of getting tied up, man. My 22 month old "keeps me" from getting stuff done too. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

you won't need a torch. most people haven't even read other people suggestions or that it wasn't even a lock. All you need to do is break the rust free. give the hitch a good whack with a hammer on all four sides and it should pull right out. don't try to tie it off to something and pull it out with power you risk getting it crooked and it binding much worse than it already is. just a little gentle persuasion with a hammer.

That's a nice stainless hitch. It's even got those shim tabs to keep it from rattling around when you're towing something. I want it Lol

If whacking it with a hammer doesn't work, get under the truck, get an old pipe, stick it in the other end of the receiver and hit with a hammer. Might help.

I really like the tie it to a tree idea. Definitely not the safest idea, but sure would be awesomest.

I never thought getting a hitch out of a receiver could be so amusing. I always thought the hardest part was finding the key to the lock. This has become like a show I can't wait to see what happens next.

    Anyone suggest a cherry bomb??

    No?

Then in that case....a cherry bomb would be really fun to watch...or a grenade if you have one!
