Anyone remove the chrome from their metal bumper end caps before painting them? What method did you use?

Seems like the general concensus around here is to just spray right over the chrome with plasti-dip. Full disclosure: I do not own shares, but should have bought stock in Plasti-dip.

I like body matched unless it’s aftermarket, some like black, ultimately you live with them.

I second doing bed liner right over the chrome. Black matches great with the plastic center sections, and the durability is there

Cost me 800 CAD for black on all 4 corners. Would have been less if I removed the corners myself and took them in, but I let them do it and they had my truck for a day. Colour matching was an option but costs more depending on the colour. The Inferno would have been 400 more I believe, but that was a rough quote, white would be 100-200 more than black from what other people have told me.

I got mine done for $250 front and rear for $275. Color was quite a bit more unless I would have done the bed at the same time.

I dipped my front and rear bumpers black. I absolutely love the stuff looks so clean. I am currently thinking about taking the black off the front today and doing it white idk how close the plastidip white is to Toyota super white.

My local line x guy quoted me 200 for all 4 with the premium stuff! I do have to take them off which will suck. Seems like I should hurry and do it before he changes his mind on price!

I used 2 cans and dipped front and rear bumpers. All my emblems and the front grille and still have 1/4 can left. 12$ to do all that.

Well this got hijacked pretty quick. I'm not looking to plasti dip or linex. I want to color match silver and was thinking of just removing the chrome and painting the original metal ends instead of buying new plastic ones.

I plastidiped mine after initially resisting the idea. I’m glad I did it. Will see how it holds up. 8776FF9A-2033-4097-9370-7104A68FD840.jpg
