Hi. I have a 2021 SR5 truck with a remote lock on the tailgate that I didn't want, but it was on the truck when it came into the dealer. I'd like to disable the remote lock. My question is:

Is there a correct way to do so, so that I don't cause some fault in the electrical system?

My experience is with multiplexing, mostly VMUX systems and I sometimes have to work around/shunt some issue when removing a similar (failed) component while awaiting a replacement part that sometimes can impact other systems, like cruise control, or set a door or compartment open fault, deactivate remote throttle control, or disable remote start (and I'm sure tons of other interactions).

This is my first Toyota, and I've only had it a week, so I am unfamiliar with the systems. I've looked for video help or tutorials, but it seems like everyone wants to add the remote lock and not the opposite.

So what's the correct way to do this without interrupting other systems?

You can probably get away with just unplugging the actuator. The other option is unplugging the harness under the kick panel.

Do you know if the system is Toyota OEM or Pop n Lock?

I would just unplug the actuator. There is a plug behind the rear bumper that is there to allow removal of the tailgate. This way, you have the option of easily adding the feature back if you want to later.

If you unplug the actuator it will be very similar for both OEM and Pn'L.

It’s just a actuator not a control module tied to a data link just unplug it.
