Cold air intake, trd exhaust, bed step, running board, middle console safe, leather steering & tonneau cover
21 trd sport crewman, So today I started my truck with remote start (cold start, temperature outside about 17 degrees) , l ran the truck for about 7 min before opening the rear door & then driver door, I was shock that my truck was still running..I got in and stepped on the brake & the vehicle did shut off. After I tried to push button while pressing on a stiff brake..to start the vehicle..there was no start. However, fans turned on high, music playing & the dash had a red battery indicator. I tried about 4 times with no success. I then popped the hood and exceeded to jumped the battery with a portable unit. After roughly 15 -20min.. I started the vehicle..& engine started. I ran it for 5 mins or so before cutting the engine off. I waited another 15 min & started it again & it started however It seemed that the exhaust note seemed a little dull/weak. Usually it deeper & throatier( I have the trd dual exhaust ) I have a service appointment scheduled…I was just wondering if more people have experience this situation..& if so what was the outcome. Any advice will be helpful..Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum . There is a thread on here about that same thing but I can't remember where it was . Try using the search function in the top right hand corner and see if you can find it .

Hi guys... mine starts back up fine so far but my search here brought up this thread... so, wondering is there anyway to just keep it running?? I just want to hop in and go, not have to restart... anyone know? Also, any way to be able to shut the truck off and keep the radio/BT on/connected? I miss the old key...

I have heard that the 2022 models Tundra’s will get an over the air update to keep the engine running when opening the door. My Jeep Wrangler keeps running, I just step in, push the start button to confirm we are ready to go and drive off.

Mine has does it twice. The consensus is an unknown software glitch. Some suspicion it’s happening to those that don’t renew their app subscription.

I mean, if we're starting a conspiracy, I might add fuel to this one. I didn't renew, my remote still worked for quite some time after it shouldn't (I mean, it should because it's ridiculous that they cut us off, but...), and now it seems not to. If an OTA update caused some kind of glitch, it would explain the situation. I just hope it was a one time thing and I can go on about my life...

No way to keep the truck running after a remote start with the factory setup, but you can with aftermarket solutions. Plenty of advice and conversation on those. Tech12Volts doesn't have one yet for pushbutton trucks, but there are other brands. I might install one down the road, but for now I'm just going without remote start.

As for Accessory mode - engine off/radio on; shut your truck off and hit the button w/o stepping on the brake. You'll get Accessory on the first push, and ignition on (but not started) on the second push.

My Tacoma did this from time to time. It always shut off, but sometimes there was a little delay from opening the door.

Wish there was a way to shut off the engine and keep the radio, etc on without having to push the start button again. ie not have to basically reboot the systems

This just happened to me a few weeks ago. I made a thread on here about it. The same week I ran into this issue, my battery started to fail on me and I got a new one under warranty. 2.5 years and 35k miles. give or take.

When it stays running and you get in, the truck thinks it's still in remote start mode when the truck actually turns off from pushing the start button. I'm not saying it's 100% connected to a failing battery but before you get stranded somewhere, I would have your battery checked at the dealer.
