I bought this on eBay 3 years ago. Uses factory fob 3x lock and it’s worked flawlessly through Oklahoma weather. And we moved to Colorado and it’s amazing. Not long to install. I am a Sr. Master tech so I did it myself but crazy easy. For the price it’s amazing!

For those of you that installed the Fortin, did you have to remove the factory remote start? The email I got from James Randy Taylor says to remove it, but I can't seem to find out how to do so. Also, will I need to splice in the key sense wire? I've got a 2017 SR5 with factory alarm. Thanks!

2017 doesn't have an option to have factory remote start that I know of. 2017 also should not need any splicing if you got it from James Randy Taylor of tech12volts. His is plug and play.

Mine has factory remote start, that kills the engine when you unlock the door to get in. That's why I'm replacing it with the Fortin one.

Dang. I wish I could help ya. Mine did not have factory remote start so I am unsure how to go around that. Mine only dies when ya hit the brakes or pop the hood with no key on the ignition

Just installed my 12Volt.Solutions with the smartphone module today. Works great! A couple of installation notes:
    1. You don't need to use any of the adaptors for the smartphone module
    2. Set the protocol to ADS when setting up the module in the App

When I looked up the model number from the main unit, it looks like a Compustar device. There weren't any instructions for programming that unit with the smartphone module, so I just plugged it in and tried different protocols... ADS was the right one for me. Head unit part number was CM-DC3. I also found this video which better explains things like the wire routing here: (ignore the wire-cutting part - you won't need to do it with the harness they provide.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VcbQdS0oX8

Same question here. Can I use one of these systems( 12voltsolutions or tech12volts )if I have factory remote start?

Thank you for posting this. I also just received my 12volt.solutions remote start + smartphone module and was confused that it was a Compustar device instead of the one shown in the videos. I contacted them and they confirmed this is the most updated one and to follow the videos for harness installs but the paper instructions for the actual programming. They confirmed ADS is the correct protocol.

No worries... didn't want you guys sitting in your trucks scratching your heads like I was. The smartphone module really is worth the $$$. I use it when I land coming home from a trip so the car is cool/warm by the time I get to it. We also use it on the way to the beach to keep the car cool when we stop for lunch.
