works just fine for us in ND winters even with the shutoff on door open. now i understand if you are not dealing with -20F temps but meh, its better than nothing right now for us :)

At $475 plus $50 a year subscription, seems too much to increase the range and avoid turn off on door open.
It actually depends on how long you plan to keep your Tundra:
3 year cost of Toyota app is $540 vs 3-year cost of this at $675. You save $45/year with the Toyota App
At 5-years, the cost of Toyota app is $900, vs the cost of this at $775, so you save $25/year if you choose the "full-house" option

actually after the 5 yr threshold drone mobile start saving money at the basic rate (barring 4G staying alive and not being replaced by 5G) at least for me based on my cost to get the module installed

    toyota app @ 5yrs = $900
    drone module = $700 installed
    5 yrs drone basic = $180 (no gps) pre-paid
    5 yrs drone premium = $360 (gps) pre-paid

but the big caveat, you can turn off the toyota app during the summer months if you dont need the cooling off on hot days and save $15 a month.

for me that would equate to about $60-$75 dollars a year in savings @ $15 month x 12 months.

It looks like some of you don't care about your driving habits being recorded and then shared (i.e. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a60175396/connected-cars-driver-data-tracking-insurance/). That's why I unsubscribed (declined) from all of those 'connected services', which basically led to the key fob no longer allowing me to remotely start the truck.

I'm waiting for a plug&play solution that I can install without cutting/tapping into existing wiring which could lead to voiding the warranty. Unless I'm missing something and there is one out there already?

I don't know if the new Tundras are included in the T harness remote start.
I don't mind the vehicle shutting off. All you have to do is hit the start button, unlike my old one that even though it didn't shut off, you had to put the key in and turn to on before touching brake pedal.
I am getting key fob starts over 50' away so distance is ok. Maybe because I hold the remote up. Better line of sight to the antenna. Same issue would affect my non phone connected aftermarket starter.

Does anybody know why climate control does not work with remote start?

Agreed. I don't understand the fuss when with any other vehicle, in my experience, you still have to step on the brake and press the start/stop button to start driving anyways.

BUT what I can't wrap my head around is why it's failing to provide climate control. Unless it's user error, but I can not figure out why seat warmer and steering wheel warmer does not activate with remote start.

Took it into the dealership and they can't figure it out either. Called Toyota Customer Brand Engagement today, was informed that aside from troubleshooting whether the truck starts with the app, they have no knowledge of what the truck does or does not do. Huh?

I have a 22 Tundra with remote start. Mine came from the dealership with an aftermarket alarm installed. The alarm came with a remote start key for, works long range like 2000ft. Once I get in I just have to press the brake and drive off.Great work around to Toyotas "non functional" remote start.
