I have had the Tech12V system in my last three cars & love it. The CL6 app uses cel and can track/start/lock /unlock from anywhere, it's included the first year and 99.95 for 3 years/ 39.95 for 1. I renewed mine for 3 years when the year was up.

Not sure how that could be. As soon as you press the brake pedal, the car shuts off.

Has anyone had to remove the dealer installed "crappy" remote start to install a better one that doesn't need to shut the truck off before getting in?

    I've read it isn't fun...

Another vote for 12 volt solutions. I have theirs and it all plug n play and uses factory key fobs. Easy installation also.

No splicing for 2018 and earlier. I bought a pigtail from 12volt.solutions that kept me from cutting the TPMS wire.

    Pretty things
There has been a huge increase in cars being sold with the proximity keys. They are apparently quite easy to steal with the right equipment.

I've not tested it, but I am not convinced my wife's jeep would turn itself off if I left it running and walked off with the keys (which I sometimes do).

Just seems like the fancy, factory systems are really being exploited these days and the old tech is just too much of a bother to deal with.

The systems being suggested here typically need the key to be inserted and actuated before attempting to shift gears (foot on brake pedal). Otherwise the truck is programmed to shut itself off.

I installed the Start-x remote start on my 2012 Tundra (it's like the highest rated one out there). Luckily there was actually an in-depth video on how to install it, I'll post it below for whoever needs it.

So far I've used this many times and it hasn't had any hiccups and the range from the factory remote is pretty decent (probably 250ft with good batteries). It just feels great in my opinion having a remote start installed while

still using the original key fob. Now some of the other aftermarket remote starts do have an advantage in that it is a 2-way remote so it will notify on the remote if the vehicle has started. Also those things have a ton of range

as well. But personally I would gladly give those things up for a more "OEM" feel.
