Yep, I've had things like that happen before. You get something that works really well for you and then it gets taken off the market.

Yep, I had a few ftf/fte in the first couple of mags but since then it's ran great. My 10mm honestly has never jammed. That thing just keeps running. It's my favorite handgun. Can't wait to get it back and run that Osprey on it. See what that's like.

Yeah...been retired for several years now.
The Wife is still has 2 or 3 years to go and she's nice enough to still let me buy new toys.
I figure I better take advantage before She retires.

Interesting fact about the FNX .45....
It was FN's entry when the US Military was considering changing their sidearm from the Colt .45
Obviously it didnt happen but FN found out there's a market for them among American Civilians....and the FNX .45 was born.
While I like the Colt the ammo capacity SUCKS!!!

Yep I was a hardcore 1911 fan for a very long time. Still like them but I LOVE that 2011 I told you about. 10mm as you know is no joke. It's my backcountry bear gun. Although I'm not worried about them when I do my backpacking trips. It's the people I'm more concerned with. Of course it doubles as anti-person gun too if it ever comes to that.

Oh...when I say paying the bills I'm talking about sitting down and writing the checks and keeping track of our expenditures.

It's currently getting fitted for a suppressor barrel but I'll see if I can find a pic of it.

    VERY NICE!!!
Yeah, trying to find a holster for the FNX was impossible.
With the Red Dot and Light/Laser forget it!!
So does the Kydex screw up the finish on the Pistol?

Not that I've noticed. Look at Craft Holsters. Hand made holsters that if they don't have it, they can make it for you. May be pricey but I have an IWB for that beast of a 2011. I described it to them and sent them links to the RIA website and pics and they made it perfectly.

I've heard of something similar to this years back.
You tell them the make and model of your firearm and they have a bunch of dummy guns with various attachments to mimic your guns dimensions.
    Pretty slick.
The only reason I haven't done it is I'll never be carrying something as big as the FNX.
It's a Range Queen and Home Defense Pistol for the most part.
I have a small Ruger LCP in .380 that'll fit in my shirt pocket or any other pocket for that matter.
While it may not be super powerful research shows that once you start shooting most people are going to start running.
Did a trigger job on it and it's surprisingly accurate out to 60 ft.
Before the trigger job the effort to pull the trigger really affected accuracy with the first shot when you had to pull it through the single action.
Once you got past that first round it wasn't too bad but I wouldnt call it crisp by any stretch unmodified.

Oh...and it has a built in Laser from the factory making it even easier to shoot!!

    Curious...
It's obvious the FNX was made to fit a Suppressor.
Do you have to get an extended barrel so you have something to cut a thread on with say a .45?

Ruger makes very good guns. I've owned many Rugers over the years. I have 2 now. A Super Redhawk in .454 Casull and a MKIV target .22.
And yeah the thing about carrying a handgun is what suits you the best. What you can shoot the most accurate and are aware of it's pluses and minuses. I carried a NAA .22 revolver for years. Slipped it in my pocket. Still have it.

This particular 2011, yes. It has a 6" bull barrel but will need an extension to run a suppressor. There are 1911s now that have the extended threaded barrel.

I shoot F-Class matches, some benchrest, and I shoot pistols about every week. I full-length size my F-Class and Benchrest brass, remove the expander ball, and use a carbide mandrel expander in the necks. I use a single stage press for that.

    I use a progressive press for 9mm and 45acp.

Oh yeah, I'm sure machinist get that all the time. I don't think it's illegal for you to thread a barrel though. I'm about 99% positive. Now if you made a suppressor without a form 1, then yes. That is definitely illegal.

It's all about consistency. I used to neck size only, but full length sizing allows you to resize the case dimensions to the same spec every time, while neck sizing only resizes the next. I also found that after repeated firings I would have some cases not load into my chamber anymore and that's not a problem with full length sizing.

I removed the expander ball from my full length sizing dies because the expander ball pulls the case mouth as it goes through it, so you are introducing a small amount of inconsistency there. Using a carbide expander mandrel after sizing doesn't pull on the case mouth and is more consistent (it does add an extra step though, some people use bushing dies instead). Using a carbide expander, I don't have to lube the inside of the case mouth, so that's an added plus.

I do measure my chamber length using fired brass, and I use that measurement to set my shoulder bump when setting up my full length dies. I tend to set my shoulder bump at about .002".
