Didn't like my comment? He DID ask for opinions. It's not like I just threw it out there without being asked.

I was asking. I didn't really know how to take it. He asked for feedback, I gave it, and you responded with "noted". Maybe you were planning to give me your Black Tundra and changed your mind? I screwed myself! :annoyed:

No...sorry if it came across that way. It was just a bit of sarcasm from someone who’s spent thousands on detailing supplies / equipment and washes his truck more than weekly on average.....

Your comment was 100% accurate. That black paint is a harsh mistress. Now that we've settled that, I need to go wash it again. It’s been over twelve hours......:annoyed:

If I was less uptight, I would have a black truck. I just hate the fact that a slight breeze seems to scratch it. Every little mark shows up.

I would not attemt trails like this in a black vehicle. White hides it pretty well.

Whoever mentioned car covers... they scratch and it shows on black. It’s very frustrating to not be able to park a car and have it look the same as when you walked away.

Doesn't make a difference what car/truck/suv you have in black. The paint nowadays are lot softer. I still think black is still good looking. My previous cars were always black exteriors and black interiors. Yes they're a bitch to keep clean. I remember when I was trading in one of my cars, The dealer had complimented how well the car looked. As I traded in the car, my car was sold that very same day. In those days, dammit I'm showing my age, the new detailing products that are available now didn't exist. So I was detailing my cars more often. Thanks to Jason, @War Machine, and Sean @Pudge, detailing hasn't been such a chore. These new sealants allow my cars and trucks to stay cleaner for longer periods.

Mine is always dirty it seems. It doesn't bother me too much. I appreciate when it's all spiffed up and shiny, but realize that's only going to be the case about six days a year. Don't get me wrong, I keep it clean and free of junk inside, but I don't stress every smudge or scratch on the outside.

I wish I could say hats off to those of you who work tirelessly to keep your truck looking brand new, regardless of color, but I don't feel that way. I think it's a waste of time. Maybe that's harsh, but none of my self confidence, identity, or ego is tied up in how clean my truck is. There are lots of other things I prefer to spend time on that actually improve my quality of life.

Just a thought @aresenalgunner007 but are you pressure washing your truck before you put a wash mitt to it? That is an important step on a dirty vehicle to avoid marring the paint while washing.

On edit: I have had a few black truck through the years and everytime I say never again...but then you see them all clean on the dealer lots and it gets me. I would have gone Cement if they had that color in a Platinum.

I hardly wash mine and, with that said, people don't compliment mine except my gf (she always supports me). Either case, I don't regret it. It's my, as TheStraightPipes would say, attainable dream car.

The thought of pointing a pressure washer at a vehicle frightens me. Get too close and possibly create more problems......

Well that's why you either use A: a local self wash car wash (low psi safe for cars but most times have very hard soap) or B: buy a sub 2K psi washer for home. or C: live with scratches and micro marring

You would have to be pretty out of line to damage a newer vehicles paint with a pressure washer if the above first two steps are followed. Don't hold the tip right on the paint and you'll be fine.

I don't regret it at all. You just stop caring so much about little swirls and scratches. Nothing looks better than a black truck. White and MGM just don't look that good tbh. Let the truck be a truck and accept and love the blemishes!

The main problem with this forum is that people obsess about their trucks, when in reality there are far better things to obsess about.

It was a very happy day when I saw the black Tundra in the rear view of my new white one.
I can agree they look great when clean, but I’m so OCD.
I still keep my white one washed, but the polishing and topcoating has slowed way down.

    Owned a black 94 Chevy.
I knew what I was getting into.
    I use waterless Shine Armor.
Takes about 1/2 hr to go over the exterior.

My truck is white. The Woman's car is black. We won't own either color again. I've owned two silver trucks in the past and it's a hassle free color. MGM is another possibility.

My ex has a black Suburban, I estimate that I wasted 1.75 years of my life detailing that school bus. I still agree nothing looks as good a freshly detailed black car but I'm out!

my Tacoma was white it was much easier to keep clean. Some days I do miss white with black accessories and wheels. But every vehicle I get I try and switch the color up. Plus the white tundra I found had more miles than the black and was 5k more...

As of now the polls show 35 don’t regret, and 17 regret going black.
Since I just washed mine yesterday, and it’s a beautiful 76 degrees outside, and it still looks like this today, I don’t have any regrets either.6C7CD18A-ED1C-4291-B23D-E49EBAF6CEED.jpg678E291C-B445-4362-9F23-9027C6E14E67.jpg
