Does $3,900 out the door (parts and labor) sound fair for front/rear 4.88 Nitro gears and a rear ARB air locker on my Tundra? I'm installing the locker compressor and running the wiring/hose myself before I drop the truck off. I get that the Tundra parts may be a few hundred more compared to Tacoma parts.

I’m no expert but that sounds a little pricey to me

If you haven't bought your parts yet contact Kieth@dirtydeeds, thats who I got mine through. I went with the Auburn not the ARB. I would REALLY contact him if you haven't. Really good price.

This actually sounds like a good deal. Front and rear ARB lockers alone cost about $2000 just in parts. 4.88 Nitro Gears w/ bearing kit another $1300. That leaves $600 for labor. Let me know how the install turns out. I’m also looking for someone to install my front and rear lockers.

Oops I didn’t realize it was only for the rear locker. Either way let me know how the install works out.

So more like 1600 in labor which is a little steep I think. But that set up will be fuckin awesome when it’s done!

Yea, just the rear. So it breaks down to about $1,400-1,500 in labor, taxes, and miscellaneous items like oil.

I can already chirp my 40" tires easily with my supercharger but I'd like even more oomph back with the lower 4.88 gears, especially if I'm going to tow a trailer soon. The 5.29s are taking too long to come out.

Might be a tad bit high but if they do quality work I’d pay it. You run 40s on stock 4.30s? That’s crazy, the supercharger helps a lot? I bet you’ll see a huge difference

Wow, I thought you regeared a long time ago, guess you've been waiting for the 5.29s. I'm looking to do the same, regear and rear locker..

Yea, the supercharger helps a ton. I'm not towing yet, which is why I haven't regeared, but I do plan on towing a trailer this year.

Yea, I was waiting but, after hearing from Motive that the front 5.29s are at least another year out at best, I can't wait any longer.

Who is doing the work? If it’s not MIT in Santee/ El Cajon, I’d call those guys.

If it is them, they do the best driveline work in San Diego.

The estimate was from Pro Gear. I know Pelfrey (@socalduckslayer) got their shop Tundra geared at MIT but I'm not sure how much it ended up costing them and whether or not Tyler also put in a rear locker.

Seems expensive, parts cost around $2400. My truck is currently at the shop for the rear locker and F/R gears install. They said about 8 hours labor to pull the diffs and install everything or about 6 hours if the diffs were already dropped. I supplied my own parts and this shop charges $75 an hour.

sounds fair to me. cheapest i could find up here was $4500 all in, parts & labor, minus the compressor. i'm planning on installing the compressor myself as well.

I don't mean to bring out this thread from the dead, but I need to re-gear for my 37's. Any shop recommendations in Southern California?

Did you get your re gear done? There is a shop in riverside that is offering regears for 2200(includes labor, doesnt include lockers) right now, even cheaper if you have a tacoma(i think its like 1780). They are called premier west gears. I stumbled upon them in one of the threads. One of the guys got revolution gears(supposedly quieter than nitro) but the also offer nitro gears.

I just had my gears done by the shop in Riverside and it was 2200 with the break-in procedure. They did a good job

How long did it take? I was looking at them but riverside is a long ways for me and with that break in period it will take forever to get home. But that is a really good price. Did you go with nittro or evolution gears? I wanted to get an auburn LSD done as well

Check out premier west gears in Riverside. Might be worth the 1.5 hour drive for you. I did 5.29 revolution on a 4x4 for $2200 a couple years ago. Nitro and Revolution were the same price.

Premier Gears and I went with revolution 5.29.
They had a special where the gears showed up broken in already. It was a drive for me too, but worth it. They were $800 cheaper than OC shops and they have been around for 35 years doing the same thing. It was done same day, but typically with no appt they said it would be a two day turn around.

You got the REM polish? I hear you dont have to do the breakin with that but idk im wearying of that. But i think they offer like a 10 year warranty right? So maybe if i buy that it will give me a piece of mind. Although i think i would probably change out the oil regardless. Did you get the clam shell to replace the needle bearing?
