Refilling tank exceeds card authorization at the pump?

Hey...total sidebar...you're in Dublin, CA?

I live 5 miles away at the top of the hills of Fairview/Casto Valley. In Dublin all the time.

You happen to know any good shops in this area where I can get some USB & AC wiring stuff done? I'm not electrically or mechanically inclined and want this done right.

 

I have a 46 gallon tank. I just go $60 each time and call it. I don't even try to fill it anymore. Besides, I drive so little at this point that the gas would go bad in the tank before I could finish it.

 

The Tundra Club does have its Perks and this is just one of them!

Mine seems to have a Drinking Problem for sure and she does not really like to talk about it.

 

You could always go inside and ask the cashier. I know at the place I typically fuel, if the limit is going to be surpassed they allow you come inside and pre-swipe.

 

But if you do it this way dont you have to guess how much it could be and they authorize over that so that it will flow till done?

It just bugs me even more to have to go inside and authorize for an arbitrary guessed amount.

 

I seldom completely fill it, hoping to avoid the check valve issues some have by keeping it a couple of gallons shy of full most of the time.

 

That's one of the things I hated about California, they keep raising gas tax, then put those monies in to the general fund, instead of fixing the roads.

 

Easier to siphon a little extra from a general fund.

Maybe check with some audio installers.

 

I am not sure how other stations may do it. But this station just pre-authorizes the card and then completes the transaction upon fueling finish.

 

Never thought this would be an issue, as a Canuck, some stations default to $100, others $200 etc, but anywhere I have filled, you can select another amount, pick your $ value before the authorization step, and go.

 

Was the lesson to keep your kid’s heads attached to their shoulders?

 

I fill up before I reach 1/2 a tank. Costs less that way! Haha

 

The most “dangerous” I lived was to keep driving my commute after the gas light had turned on, and I went another 60 miles or so. It was on empty for a day or two. When I filled, I got about 33 gallons in. So, there was probably 5 more gallons sloshing around in there.

 

Good grief. Is that gas pumped from a gold nozzle by an Egyptian prince? At this rate, gasoline is going to be as expensive as the ink in inkjet cartridges sold by printer manufacturers.

 

Lol. I rarely ever let my tank get below 1/4 full (never knew it costs less by doing so) and always fill up before entering major cities when traveling. Some of the gas stations in cities are not places you want to hang around in long enough to even pump gas.
