I slid under my truck and all 8 were around 43 foot pounds. Cranked up the torque wrench to 70 foot pounds and it took about 22 degrees of rotation to hit 70. My truck was built on 3/1/22 as a reference point.

I'll have the dealer check my work during the 5k service visit.

Just did mine. None were under 14.75 foot pounds (threshold referenced by the recall). My experience was the same as @Craigaz; about 22 degrees rotation to get to 70 on all 8. Feb. 22 build.

Is it only the rear that everyone is checking?

I didn't check the front since the recall didn't reference it. Does anyone know what the factory torque setting is for the front?

My dealer's next appointment isn't until July 15... Anyone know what size the flange nuts are?

I can literally only get to 1 on each side of mine without pulling tires off.

Each one I could get to was NOT torqued to 70ft/lbs though. I got almost 1/4 turn out of them before the torque wrench clicked. Not overly worried about it and not going to go out of my way to make an appointment. I'll let them take care of it when I hit 5K miles, which will be in like 6 months at the rate I drive. lol

I was able to slide under my truck with a creeper and tighten all of them. All mine were present, torqued to 44 lb-ft, and then I tightened them up to 70 lb-ft. Try some different socket set ups perhaps?

My tires are wider than OEM so I needed an extension that frankly I was just too lazy to go back and get...again, not overly concerned. All 4 were on each side and I doubt they will move before 5K miles even being a little under torqued.

The 70ft/lb is for the recall, so I’m not surprised they weren’t at 70 already… from what I can gather the original torque specs were only in the 40’s, which I suspect was too low and the reason they backed off on some trucks…

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't want to go forever with where they are now, but I'm quite confident I'll be just fine for 5,000 miles.

Anyone have any first hand experience with this? They're saying certain nuts can come loose on the rear axle assembly and bad things happen.

I'm going in this Friday. Hopefully a quickie.

Stupid Toyota app. Only notice I got so far was the back up camera. Looks like a call to the dealership.

I called to make my appointment today and they said it’s a lengthy appointment and will take at least 4 hours, seems to go against everything everyone is saying on here.

Will be interested to see what they say when I drop off instead of the person who is just booking the appointments.

Platinum as well here. Just got mine back from the dealer. They checked and said all of mine were fine except one! Oh well good until the next recall, I guess. Had a taco before and it had several recalls over the years.

Did they by any chance happen to say what “fine” meant?

What I am getting at is if “fine” meant they were all at 70 per the recall suggested fix (except one) or were all at 44 per original spec and the exception was one that was backing out/loose?

Tightened mine before heading out on a trip but have an appointment with the dealership next Tuesday.

Also…does anyone know how to reset the app so it will stop screaming
    - 1 recall/safety notification
    - 1 maintenance notice (first oil change)

Is that something that automatically updates once the dealer puts your vin in the system that these items were taken care of?

Sorry, they said they were all at 70 except one that only needed a little tightening. I twisted my knee and can't drive so my wife took it to the dealer. Those were the only details they gave her. The paperwork they sent home doesn't have any useful info.

I called customer service and asked how to get the recall notice to clear on the app. They said give it a week and it should drop off. I highly doubt that will happen, just a wait and see thing for now. Seems like it would get cleared by VIN at the dealer after service but I guess that isn't the case.

Took mine in today, left it at the dealership and went to work, since work is across the street :) . took about 4 hours tho, but they were busy with other cars, guy said this is the first recall they are doing of this type but easy fix, if any fix.

I'd generally concur that once you get the car on a lift this should be a very quick job. I would personally check them myself you have the ability to, and then still bring it into a dealer to have it done on record.

I just noticed the recall on the app today. I'm not sure of my build but I picked it up mid May and it has 2800 miles on it. The first appointment available at the stealership is next Wednesday. I'm planning on driving 800 miles or so round trip to go visit family over the holiday weekend before that appointment. Do you all think these are plans I should change (drive a different vehicle)? Checking the nuts myself is not in my wheelhouse (no place to do it).

Honestly I personally wouldn't be concerned in the slightest. Even if they are under torqued, I highly doubt they'll come loose for probably thousands of miles.
Unless you have like 10-15K+ I wouldn't even worry about it.
