I will say I shopped new trucks from GM, Ford and Toyota. I even called the Ram dealer, but could never convince myself to go out there.

Fell in love with a used GMC AT4 with the 6.2 but couldn't make peace with the risk. Didn't trust the Ford EcoBoost from friends who'd had them grenade. Heard a lot of Tundra stories from their new turbos and that changed my search to V8 only. That's what landed me on the 2021 1794.

If they made a new V8 Tundra, I would have bought it, period. I guess it's just "No replacement for displacement" for me.

    I am looking for a second 5.7
One for work only and one for camping/trips only

I like the simple truck, I have zero need for bells and whistles

You know, I thought that was me, but realized I wanted that climate control in degrees, then it was adaptive cruise, then electric seats, then parking sensors. It got pretty bad, haha. Suddenly I found myself unchecking SR and SR5 on Autotrader.com.

To add to that @Pig Rig I started out looking at a regular cab, 8' beds. Truck as a truck, right? Then I thought, well...maybe a backseat? Extended can ain't all bad, right? Maybe the 6-1/2' bed? Another few months of looking and I had only the 1794, 4x4, clean title, and <40k miles boxes checked.

This is exactly my thinking and what I’m going to do. 22 SR5 as loaded as you can get one. Nice truck and I’m just going to have to trust yota will take care of the issues.

You have a 2 year old used truck they can’t sell until the recall is performed.

1.) The used car market is returning to reality. Depreciation is a thing again.

2.) Dealers don’t want inventory they can’t sell but have to pay interest on their floor plan loans to have sitting around.

3.) Sucks to be an early adopter sometimes. Toyota really fucked over the early adopters of the Gen 3.

4.) Unless your truck is out of service and meets all Lemon Law requirements you’ll just have to drive it, or take a bath on it.

Look up the first model year of the 2nd gen and compare it to the first model year of the 3rd gen. Granted, there's a lot more time to accumulate complaints, but it's the closest "apples to apples" comparison you'll get.
