    Hey guys,

I am extremely close to getting my chrome front bumper end caps on my 2018 replaced with paint matched ones. However, I am concerned because I believe the whole grill needs to come off. To take the grill off, I will need to unplug the sonar from the grill (toyota logo). If I do this I was told I have to take the truck back to the dealership to have safety sense recalibrated .

Is this true? Asking because if so that may be a deal breaker for me.

The front sensors in the caps are parking sensors. You don’t need to remove the grill for the front caps.

I have min early turned off as I don’t use em and beep for no reason. So I didn’t recalibrate.

Right, I understand that those censors in the bumpers are for parking. However, when I was reading instal instructions of the end caps from sparks, they said you need to remove the entire grill.

Yea. I’m not sure , but this is exactly what sparks told me:

“To do the swap, you need to remove your grille and the panels under your headlights. Once those are removed, you can get to the bolts that hold on the entire front bumper and swap out the end caps and then reinstall.”

    None, yet....
If you send me a message tomorrow I'll look it up while at work.

I don't think recalibration will be necessary so long as the position of the sensor stays relatively the same and you don't disconnect the battery. I'll double check though and let you know.

I had the grille off on my 2018 because I installed color coded surrounds and hood bulge. The adaptive cruise is working fine. no sensor alignment was needed, just don't bang stuff around.

Also, no need to unplug the wiring harness right at the sensor. There is an access cover on the driver side right next to the hood latch, just flip it up, remove it and you can unplug the harness for the cruise sensor right there. I didn't realize that until after I had the grille removed. Makes things much easier.
