My 2012 had rear wheel bearing issues but it had 90K on it and I towed with it. My 2018 now has to have them replaced and is has 47K. I am beginning to wonder what is going on. I tow a 25’ travel trailer but only a few short trips during the summer. It is covered under the warranty on the 2018 but I don’t think it should be happening especially with so few miles. I might be contacting Toyota directly.

Bringing this thread back to life. My 2018 has a squealing/scraping sound come from the rear passenger wheel. 60,500 miles. Taking it in to the shop this week. I have the extended warranty. I assume it’s a wheel bearing issue. Bakes are good.

That sounds like a brake/backing plate issue. I highly doubt it's the WB.

A WB is gonna be a groan/vibration that changes tone with speed.

    Please keep us updated.

    Thanks

Just got the call back from the dealership. They found nothing wrong. Drove it and they didn’t here anything.
It’s been grinding off and on for over 6 months. So, they drove it again and heard the noise. They think it’s a break issue. They said the rear rotors are badly worn. I am going to pick it up and replace them this weekend. We will see…

Reason I ask is I had a nasty grinding noise once and it was a rock stuck in between the parking break shroud and rotor. Somehow got in there on the dirt roads.
