New to the group. Just bought (kinda, put $500 down to hold) my first Toyota. A 2017 CM limited. However, the dealer will not let me take delivery due to the "rear step recall". It has been about a month now and I'm getting a bit upset. They keep telling me they are waiting on the parts. Does anyone know anything about how or when the parts will be in?

if you're referring to the little step that you manually kick down to help you into your box tell your dealer to use the space between their ears and have them call you so you can arrange an appointment to have it installed when the parts show up.

I think his new truck has the "stop Sale" order for the resin brackets behind the bumper with Parking assist/bsm

interesting, it's hard to imagine that your dealership hasn't sold a tundra in a months time because of parts.

Only certain vin #'s are effected if I'm not mistaken. Also its only the trucks with the safety package that have the messed up bumpers and steps...have them find you one without, it cant be that hard.

You are referring to the rear bumper safety recall and yes, they cannot deliver an affected vehicle until it is repaired. On certain models with the safety package (specifically Blind Side Monitor and may affect others), the rear bumper brackets are made of a resin material that can break under certain conditions. My VIN is affected and my dealer says they have no idea when the parts will be available. Several forum members had their dealer find a model for them that is not affected (Limited, Platinum and 1794 are most likely all affected). There is another thread about this issue: https://www.tundras.com/threads/tundra-stop-sale.10571/

Here is the information on the recall:
    Title
Safety Recall H0C (Interim H1C) Interim Notice Certain 2016-2017 Model Year Tundra Resin Rear Bumper Reinforcement Brackets
    Description
In the event of an impact to the corner of the bumper, the resin bracket may become damaged but not be noticed. If a person steps on the corner of the bumper that is damaged, a portion of it may break away, increasing the risk of injury. If a person steps on the corner of the bumper that is damaged, a portion of it may break away, increasing the risk of injury.

Nothing you can do about it but wait or go buy one with chrome bumpers. Just don't cancel and buy a Ferd. But you may talk to them and mention you're thinking about it. Maybe they'll get scared to lose the sale and throw in a free something something.

This recall effects all 16/17. It has nothing to do with the accessory step like is installed on the Tacoma's this actually the brackets that hold the rear bumper ends on.

I'm in the same boat also, ordered my 2017 platinum 4x4 in September of 2016 and just now was told my truck is finally delivered but now have a stop sale due to recal and can't get it till it's fixed.
Now I might consider maybe just wait till September 2017 for the 2018 model.
