I may. Was going that route since only needed the inch and didn't want to spend that much on shackles, but now leaning back towards shackles as the better of the two options especially if I can get either the Maxtrac or the Pro Form Fab ones. I should make a decision this week though. Thanks.

Sounds like we're in the same boat. People swear by changing out the bushings, hard as it sounds.

Any issues or problems with the Maxtrac? How do you like?

Maxtrac is being shipped right now and I'm currently looking into the bushings. Did you go with the fat Bob's garage set up for the front. If u did how you like them?

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
Your right the best way is shackles, not blocks. One of my mistakes when ordering parts, but sometimes it's what you can afford. :anonymous: Now I gotta rally my son to help put them on... We'll see how that goes.

Coachbuilder +1". Expensive, yes. Worth it, absolutely. They are massive, and hold the rear end steady with no side play. Bushings on a new '19 Limited came right out with no issues using cheapo ball joint press, but truck is only a couple of months old, so no rust issues. I can see where it would be an issue on an older truck. Great improvement in ride and handling.

I'd never go with blocks, but that's me. I'm a firm believer in "Buy once, Cry once".

I did go with Fat Bob's for the front. I went with their shocks and not the Bilstein since every pointed me in that direction. Love the look. It actually gave me a little over 3", like 3.25 after install. I knew it would but couldn't believe the difference in looks. The whole truck looks bigger. Actually haven't drove it except from the shop to home and it's only 5 miles or so. I didn't get the alignment yet, wanted to get it home, make sure I was sitting level left to right which I am, not Tundra lean on this one. Plus, my tires are at almost 60K and have to get new ones in the next couple of weeks, so figured, what harm. Probably get dropped off tomorrow or one day this week to align.

But anyway, back on the subject, where did you order the Maxtrac from, Fat Bob's?

Contacted them and they were quick to reply. They can build a 1" but won't have the middle support but both said the same thing, so beefy, wouldn't be an issue. I wish I had both the 1" and 1.5" and install to see the difference. So many decisions......

These will be going on my new to me tunny. Same as what I had on my 07. ToyTec adjustable shackles. Buy once, cry once just as with CB's

Had the block on it when I bought it. It rides the exact same as the shackles do as far as I can tell. If I were romping it off-road I’d throw some shackles on it because they are inherently stronger than the block, but that’s about the only reason I’d ever worry about it.

I also went with Toytec and poly bushings from Energy Suspension. Ride quality has improved for sure, though some of that is because of new shocks as well. I have developed a terrible squeak, however, that I believe is coming from the bushings. I greased and installed one, and had a shop install the other, and they greased that one, too. So, I'm not sure what to tell anyone on how to avoid that, and it is awful. Truck sounds like it's a hundred years old driving through my parking garage at work.

Those poly bushings shouldn't squeak, especially when greased.

That's what I thought. I used the grease included with the shackles, the shop used their own. Perhaps I'm wrong, maybe it's coming from the bolt and the metal sleeve, I can't tell. I know I've sprayed the hell out of both with WD40, PB Blaster, and a graphite lube designed for bushings, all to no avail.

Could be the bolt and sleeve.

I'll be watching your thread. My truck has a lot of the same 'character' your does, which I've never been too mindful of, but if you have good success making it look new again, I'll try the same on mine. :)

I installed 3" lift coilovers. they actually gave me about 3.25" of added height. My truck had odd measurements, my rear was just about 3" higher then the front so with the coilovers I was looking to level. But now the front is about .25 higher. Which I have to buy some shackles now, but at the same time, I get to lift the rear as well, so not bad. From talking to a couple of people, my fronts were lower than normal and rear higher which made the 3" difference.

The squeaking is coming from the shackle hitting a bed bolt. Known issue with shackles in the 1” position.

Go 1.5 in the rear that’s the best combo I have just over 3” on my truck and 1in didnt look right I now have a canopy so I did 2” shackles. 1.5 will be perfect with your lift

Yeah, after asking and talking to others, they are all pretty much level or like .25 or .5 inch higher in rear. 1", a true 1" would give me a difference of .75 in rear which would be just fine. Afraid if I go with 1.5" shackles, too much rake for my liking.

Yeah, I'm not totally anti block. No offroading so don't need the extreme. But I know shackles are the better route and turns out they should run close to same if not a tad cheaper, so just about set on shackles.

Trust me 1.5 on a 3” lift is a perfect stance. If you go 1” anything in the bed will put you nose high. And even making it that level to the eye it stick looks nose high even if the tape says different these trucks are just designed to where the front looks higher when leveled and for $60 you can’t lose much I have a 1” block I’ll even send you for free if you don’t like the look of 1.5 shackles

I've searched every rear end squeak thread i can find on this forum, and have not heard of this until now. I crawled under my truck this morning, though, and sure enough, the bolt is rubbing the top of the shackle! It's most visible viewed from the angle where the spare tire mounts. I didn't notice it at all when I installed the shackles. The only lube I had left is that graphite stuff, so I sprayed it down, and that made a noticeable difference on the way to work today. I think I'll crawl under there again with a grinder and take care of that bolt for good, though.

Thanks for pointing this out! I love this forum.
