I called and explained that I have to work sat, sun, mon 9am-930pm so I will not be able to pick it up for a while and will need to keep the rental. They didn't like that idea and said they would call me back. So i just got a call back and spoke with the service manager. they ordered new switches which should be there in the morning. Hopefully that fixes the problem. If it does I'll get it back tomorrow, unfortunately I work 9am to 930pm so idk how I'll get it back and the rental back to them. We shall see. They said maybe they can meet me at work to exchange cars. I wish they also bought the BCM in case the switches don't work, seems too logical though.

Honestly, let them hang onto the truck. It’ll save you mileage and fuel while you have the rental. As you know, being nice helps speed things up at times, and at times will even go beyond.

The guy said I can have the rental as long as the truck is in the shop. I did say I really can't come to pick it up til Tuesday and he didnt like that idea at all. I do hope the new switches fix the issue but at the same time I don't mind if it's something else and I have the rental for a few days. I'll only be commuting to and from work for the next 3 days, which is 6 miles round trip.

You should call back and ask if you can trade the Yaris for a Tundra unless he's okay with you collecting buckets of sap in the back of the Yaris.....maybe that would get you a rental upgrade. :boink:

I know the Yaris is a bummer but i’m glad it’s going to get covered, that’s the bigger picture here.

Sounds like you’re warranty decision really paid off and that’s why you got it in the first place.

They don't have to prove anything to deny warranty. They just have to suspect.

I can see where that would make no sense unless you knew @Pudge is the syrup guru on here.

The law states that they have to prove that mods caused the damage to the switch.

I added headers to my Camaro. The service department was trying to link the headers to a malfunctioning BCM.

They can suspect all they want, they need to prove it.

Fixed under warranty. Kinda what I figured. The original switch that went back short circuited the front switch and blew a fuse I guess. Just happy to have it back and not having to have spent a fortune

    Here's how it works:
You mod it and them claim warranty.
They deny it saying it was the mods fault.

At this point, they don't have to prove anything, it's denied based on their knowledge.

You can then go to Toyota proper and ask them to review. They will and then they will give you their decision.

If they say it was the mods fault, they will tell you and their reasoning. If you don't believe them, then you fight and it's gonna be way more expensive than the warranty claim. You also will probably lose because they know more about their vehicles than the experts you will hire.

The dealer does not have to prove nothing though. They just make the initial decision.

Awesome, glad it’s behind you now. Warranty was worth it from what i can see. Would have been way more expensive if no coverage

Oh yeah man. To me this one repair alone was worth it. I would not have been able to troubleshoot and repair this problem without spending a fortune on parts. I've never been much for warranties but I figured I would own this truck for a while so over the long run its not much more to spend.
