Really? Thanks for the info. My Tundra currently does 11.12 miles a gallon but driving like a grandma. I got this number from miles traveled from full tank divided by the amount of gallons pumped in the tank. I think that’s how you calculate it.

Based on the 16% miscalibration from the oversized tires, that’s closer to 12.9 actual mpg…
    Just sayin’

OP - first piece of advice I’d give, honesty, is dont take what is said in these threads too personally. A lot of the folks here, myself included, like to take a few light hearted jabs here & there. It’s not personal. Just having fun…. sometimes slightly at someone’s expense. No biggie. Honesty, the vast wealth of knowledge and information at your fingertips from these knuckleheads is well worth the abuse IMO. :)

regarding your mileage issue, my first thought was something is very very wrong here. I have a 7” lift with 37s, and I get ~450 miles on a full tank. That’s with a corrected spedo (using Hypertech). Then I read you have the 26gal tank. That makes more sense (I have 38 gal), but 170 is still waaay low.

First thing I would do if I were you is get the spedo adjusted. Hypertech worked great for me & isn’t that pricey. This is assuming you’re using the ‘estimated miles left’ range on the dash. Manually calculate the miles yourself if you don’t want to recalibrate the spedo. I get ~ 12 to 12.5 mpg (according to the dash). With your 26 gal tank, that means you should be getting ~238 miles per fill up (using 19 gallons) with the same ~12.5 mpg that I get.

What year is your truck? 5.7L or 4.6?

Regearing will help mpg, but it won’t be a huge difference. As others mentioned, for longer range on a single tank, I’d considering installing a 38 gal. Transfer Flow makes a 46 gal if you’re so inclined (you’d lose a bit of clearance with that one though…it hangs below the frame an inch or two).

Call me gullible, but I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt before I judge, but he's gone with no pics after multiple attempts asking for them. His loss, not ours.

mine was only off by less than 8% when I installed the 37s, i did the speedo calibrator after the 37s. I had 295x70r18 (34.3x11.5) before without the speedo calibrator and it was almost dead on, less than 1% off.
For almost a year i would have to drive over a 50 mile stretch of highway, i would compare the odometer to the mile markers over 50 miles and figure out the % difference to adjust the speedo. the next drive I was within 0.1 miles of the mile markers over 50 miles. the speedo matches a GPS speed app and the radar signs

yes, that is how you hand calculate it. did you ever have the speedo recalibrated when you installed the lift? if not, the larger diameter of 37s will throw off you speedo and odometer, causing it to think you drove less than you actually did.

Thank you for the info! It makes a TON of sense now to use the Hypertech to adjust the speedometer. I never thought of the mileage being lower since I have 37's now. One thing I'm curious about is why is everyone interested in looking at pictures of my truck? I'm not trying to show off my truck like that. Again, I had ZERO intentions of lifting my Tundra. All I wanted was some new tires but then saw a used set 20 inch wheels with 35 inch tires for cheap on FB Marketplace. And of course it didn't fit so I had to do a 3/1 levelling kit, then when the 20's with 35's were installed, I realised that the 20's were too small. I wanted 22's but I figured 22's will just be a little bigger which I thought would still look too small which is why I decided to go with 24's and 37's and ended up having to do a ReadyLift 8 inch lift to get it to fit.. And now of course I regret not going with 22's because I want a little bit more side wall. I’m just used to putting big 22 inch wheels on my BMW 7 series is why I feel 20’s are too small for my Tundra.

All I was trying to do was to get an idea of why I'm only getting 170 miles a tank and ended up hearing all kinds of trash talk. But now I understand why with the 37's and getting the speedometer adjusted to show the correct mileage.

And now after the lift, I’m getting a shuttering at acceleration from a stop but then goes away once the tires start to spin. It only happens from a stop to acceleration for like one second. The shop that did the lift said I need some traction bars to fix that issue so I ended up buying some traction bars for $1500 and it’ll take them 5-6 weeks for them to get it made. All this ended costing me an arm and leg when all I really wanted was some new tires. I hope the traction bar fixes the shuttering issue I have.

But since you guys want to see some pictures, here it is. These are the only decent looking silver wheels I can find. All other wheels are black and I can’t stand black wheels and I can’t stand wheels that stick out. The wheels that I really wanted are the Black Rhino Traverse but are discontinued.

Im pretty sure I’m gonna hear some more trash talk after this picture but it’s ok cuz haters make me work harder and I ended up writing a damn book on this thread.

Btw, my Tundra is a Platinum 5.7

So long as you like your truck and it's safe to run, nobody else's opinion on it matters.

We are like little kids here and always want pictures, so you're not being singled out on that one. We ask EVERYONE for pics... and then we usually ask for more pictures.

yes, traction bars will help the vibration you feel at acceleration (which is called axle wrap). If the vibration/shutter is pretty bad, I wouldn't hit the gas too hard until you get the traction bars installed.

Everyone loves seeing pics of trucks here. It's the first thing asked of new members. It's kinda like looking at boobies, but for tundra-fanatics. Next time, just throw up the goods...

Nice ride. 37s look great on 20s, btw. Google some pics. I'd upload my truck pics (have 37s/20s) but don't have any handy. If you're gonna change out the wheels/tires, 20s would look mo better. /opinion

    Also...what Adam said ^^

Yea, for now I’m driving like a grandma cuz I feel something is gonna break if I slam on the gas. Thanks for confirming about the traction bars and axle wrap. I feel more at ease now.

I had this issue as well on a 4.5 lift and it was the carrier bearing drop kit. A little adjustment and she was good to go. I think your truck looks solid man Ef the naysayers...

The best way to get better mileage in your truck would be to upgrade to 18s with 34-35in tires. I think the biggest upgrade of all would be to raise the rear so that it’s even with or higher than the front of the truck.

    • I actually still have the 20’s with 35’s. I’ll probably save them and put them on if I get too many weird looks of my truck but getting lots of compliments of it.

I asked ReadyLift if I can put the 1 inch block from my 3/1 kit and they said no, it’s not recommended because I do want to make the rear 1 inch taller.

Wait for the traction bars first before lifting rear more you will get more shutter. Did do carrier bearing drop?
