That'd be the 26 or 28 gallon tank. Tundra tanks are kinda long, so there is a very conservative reserve built into keep the trucks from stalling on an incline while low on fuel.

If your sole goal here is to increase your range, and MPGs don't matter, then you can install a 38 gallon tank. There some extra parts needed, but adding another 10 gallons+ of fuel capacity is going to give you the biggest range increase, hands down.

If it's in the budget, I'd recommend the research as well. The truck will drive better. For rehearing info you can get a hold of Keith at Dirty Deeds Industries. He will steer you right on your gear choices.

Changing the gearing is not the answer. Wheels that big kill gas, pushing the weight of the wheel barrel out that far significantly increases the power it takes to spin the wheel.

Same is true for the tires. What tires by the way? All terrains? Mud terrains? The heavier the tread the worse it gets.

Putting your truck 8" higher in the air hurts a lot for aero, that is magnified the faster you go.

Lowering the gear ratio in hopes of recovering some fuel economy would be a fools errand. I lowered the gear on mine long ago and happened to pick up a bit of lost mpg, but it was an unintended consequence.

You've thrown parts and money at your truck haphazardly, this is what happens. The extent you've changed the engineering of your truck is too far to recover fuel economy without ditching the wheels for smaller/lighter ones. Not the answer you want but it's true.

This is the picture that got me doing the ReadyLift 8 inch lift kit with 24’s and 37’s. Only difference is my wheels don’t stick out. I prefer my wheels leveled with the fender. And it’s silver! I refuse to spend money on black wheels you can’t even see!

Anyone who refuses to post pictures doesn't have what they say they do. OP is probably asking this question before he buys. And he's getting butthurt over a few jokes. No one buys the tundra for the mpg. And those of us who mod know the hit we'll take. Come back when you get thicker skin and a tundra.

It’s not nice to assume. Sit down and learn to be humble. I’ve owned the 1st, 1st 1/2, 2nd, and 3rd gen Tundras in my lifetime so far.

Of course I saw your username. I just didn’t want to call your grumpy ass out!

Still waiting on my traction bars to come in. They said it’ll be five weeks or so. Once it’s in and installed, I’ll post some pictures when the room is cooled down with some nice folks to look at it.

I park next to guys with massive, ugly, wheels all the time. I just giggle and walk off. Same when I see them on the road; but I'm polite about it, I wouldn't want to hurt the feelings of another person who's already compensating heavily..

I get between 12.3 and 12.5 mpg on 37s with 5.29 gears. I had the gears before the tires, so I cannot offer a comparison. I also have DAP tune and a cat back exhaust. I also installed an LRA 46 gallong tank.. Last thing to add will be headers, likely next year.

    Just here for pics

Legitimately don’t know how to improve mpg, but imagine re-gear will help with the throttle response and drive ability to make the 170-200 miles per tank more enjoyable.

    What year.
Pre 2016, they only had a 26 gallon tank, which reads empty at 20 gallons to fill.
Post 2016, most higher trims have the 38 gallon, which reads empty at 32 gallons to fill.

if you’re putting in 20 gallons, and based on the actually tires size getting about 200 miles to a tank (your quoted 170 at a 16% adjustment for tire size), then you’re getting ~10mpg. Not great, but considering the suboptimal loads you’re putting on the entire drivetrain with that setup, I’d bet it’s actually not that bad. I’m also guessing you’re doing mostly stop-and-go city driving with it…the advertised city mpg for a stock truck is only 13mpg.
