    Yeah lots of option, just depends how stuck you are and how much you want to get unstuck. Usually lots of digging will be involved, or a good knowledge of knots and rigging

    I just spoke to him on Instagram the other day. He says the Tundra has been down for a few months due to brake issues but he's going good. Miss that guy.

    Good. I'm glad to hear he's doing well. I wish I could just drive over, and put his truck back together for him, but Cali is a lot further away than K-ville...

    A clutch based lsd is worthless when you lift a tire. I’ll never make that mistake again. Eaton try track at the least but I prefer selectable lockers.

    I did 4.10's on stock tires. Better mpg and added an LSD too. Much better overall. Good for towing, around town with slightly higher rpms on the freeway (but still better mpg).

    A worn clutch LSD, sure. A good aftermarket like the TRD/Kazuma, Eaton, Cusco, etc. would be a whole different story.


    I now have a powertrax grip pro (torsen LSD) and it's better than the worn out OEM LSD I had. But not better than than the Cusco RS 2-way I had in my drift car (which has also had a welded and a spool).

    I went 4.56 w nitro torsen lsd rear and open front w ecgs. I spent forever agonizing about a front locker and decided against it. I have bumpers, skids and sliders and a winch to install. I wanted a rig which can survive most things rather than do crazy s. If I get into crazy trail I’ll 4wd convert my RC Taco.

    I do want a locker for said RC Taco though since it’s 2wd.

    most of my build goals are aimed at snow right now rather than mud.

    I don’t think 4.56 is too much gear at all. No regrets on that. Don’t want 4.88 and don’t want 34-35” tires. Plenty big and heavy already.

    I think studded snow tires next winter. And lots and lots of lighting and stereo fun once time allows.

    The Eaton clutch lsd I had was absolutely useless with one wheel lifted. Maybe one with crazy preload springs is ok but anything short of a locker is worthless with a wheel lifted. Look up the roller testing on YouTube. The only truck that makes it up the ramp has a locker…

    3/2" lift, visor, 33s, eibach pro-truck, Cvj axles BFF Bumper 4.56 Tacoma Diffs
    honestly, 4.56 is great if you're towing with 33s. it's a bit much for mostly solo driving, and ends up being a bit out of the torque band at 75MPH. overall, I don't regret it. I had no measurable impact on fuel economy.

    Yeah, maybe my experience with aftermarket LSD's is a bit different then. Mine are meant for racing/drifting and have had heavier preload.


    Not that you couldn't left foot brake a bit to get it working.
