Sounds like you got extra nuts. I just got the 6 for the bumper tabs and two for the cross member.

Boom. Too cold out for this shit. Bloody knuckles. But got it done. Fairly easy but was hard with one person and two hands. Used a jack to help keep it in place.

Solid built stuff. However that 38 gallon skid doesn’t not want to line up

So to get this right is you put a bolt thru the top down and a lock nut then at the end u put another washer with another lock nut to hold the bumper tabs.......so each carriage bolt for bumper tabs takes 2 lock nuts?

Oh I think they meant those lock because they have a square base at the bottom head to allow them to “lock” (fit snugly?) into place.

That’s how I took it at least

I haven't had the chance to install mine yet but I will try to do a DIY unless someone beats me to it.

I didn't get any lock washers. I think the nylon locking nuts negate the requirement for lock washers. Right?

yeah I'm pretty sure they switched to nylon lock nuts to get rid of the lock washers and nuts.

Well due to some snow in the forecast I had to spray the underside of my truck with fluid film this morning.

While I had it up on the ramps I figured I would change the skid plate quick. It was 30 degrees out so I didn't do a DIY, plus my gloved hands were a mess from the FF.

I thought the install was very straightforward with the instructions provided. If you don't have one, I would get a ratcheting 14 mm box wrench to make the job easier. I used a lift with a block of wood to support the skid plate while I lined up the first few bolts.

The only thing I wasn't sure about was the direction of the half moon washers. The top of that crossmember seem pretty flat to me so I used the cut side on the outsides as it seems the crossmember may rise towards the outsides.

The fit was perfect. I am looking forward to using the access door next oil change.

    Thanks again @RCIoffroad

It's wider, but so thin it's pretty much useless

Useless indeed, crumpled mine first time i took the truck off road. Subsequently found itself in the trash can for the next pick up.

The OEM "skid plate" is wider but it is also shorter and thinner (weaker). It is very thin and easily bendable, suitable for small road debris. The RCI skid is much stronger and has an access door for your oil filter. I went with an engine skid only due to funds and after installing it, now I want to pick up the transmission skid ASAP.
