    Bought my son an Arrma Senton 4x4 3S today. I almost put money down to reserve the Maxx Slash that was in stock that goes on sale tomorrow.

    What batteries do you run on your Traxxas RC? Do change the plugs and use cheaper bats?

    I think I might need to grab a set as well. Those tires turn into damn pizza cutters over 60 mph.

    Order them directly from Traxxas. They have 20% off until the end of the month. When I placed my order, I had a shipping notification 45 minutes later. Bodies are 20% off as well.

    I did the live chat with them. They were waiting on a delivery of 4mm set screws that were due in from the manufacturer. They said the order would ship by Monday. I just got the shipping notification.

    My Slash 4x4 is about to become a beast. I picked up the Traxxas 17mm hex conversion kit today. I'm going to see how the wheels from my Maxx fit since they are coming off soon anyway. If they are too big the shop said Proline has some lower profile Trenchers that will work.

    Some body trimming started. @Hbjeff these are the Sledgehammers off of my Maxx. Dropped the pinion from a 13 down to a 10 tooth.

    I love the senton. My buddy has one the arrma is faster than traxxas out of the box. On the senton the only issue he has is rocks getting into the steering linkage, cover a hole in the belly pan that leads to the steering area, a rock or stick can get into the hole when driving

    Yeah we are getting back into the hobby pretty heavy. The pics I posted earlier are from my new project idea. It's the old school Slash 4x4. Years ago I swapped to the different control arms and shocks. Then I swapped to the LCG chassis and Stampede wheels and tires. Now I came up with the idea to add the 17mm hub conversion and the old wheels from my Maxx since my new belted setup arrives on Monday.

    Redcat broke again and I’d had enough. It got scavenged for electronics and wheels and tires. Now to figure out what to do with the parts. Got a 2s//3s brushless motor, esc, 25kg servo, 8mm brass hex weights, 2.2” swampers with foam inserts. Truck was a 1:10 scale.

    We have three traxxas machines. In various stages of broken. Are there any places I can send them out to refurb so I
    Can be back up and running. Kids were pretty little the first go round and a little hard on equipment. not really sure what I need to be back in action.

    Time spent on RC...

    Drive = 50%
    Break = endlessly
    Repair = 50%
    Repeat = endlessly

    Repairs can be equally the best part of the hobby!!! It's the most educational, hands-on experience the kids will have. They'll understand why it broke, how to fix it, and a how to avoid incurring the damage with better operating skills. Also, they'll learn a little bit of the cost of breaking something along with the reward in repairing it. All Traxxas products have excellent exploded parts documents online for all resources, advice, and recommendations. Their cars/trucks need minimal tools. You can source parts/tools through them or source from a local hobby store too. Hobby stores will happily do your repair too.

    For that price yes lol. It's been a solid truck. I have had it since it came out almost 10 years ago.

    Here we go again!

    It's been many, many years since I assembled a model, although I used to enjoy it immensely. I have a large box of 20+, all unopened, mostly 60's--70's muscle with a few NASCAR's. I have a friend who's been into RC's for many years and he recently invited me to the hobby shop for racing night, Tuesdays. I've been going back each week. It's fun stuff.

    Having just bought my 2008 Tundra 4x4 Double Cab, my first question was, "Do they make a Tundra RC?" Answers led me to the Crew Cab version. But, I wanted mine, the Gen 2.0 Double Cab. Found the Tamiya Tundra High Lift and it took a bit to arrive. Then, I learned about the MFC-02 control unit and ordered that. I've since been learning much about the current state of the hobby while also assembling the Tundra and diagnosing how the MFC-02 works, calculating what accessories / LED lights might be controlled remotely, etc. At Tamiya, there are separately available light units (TLU-01 and TLU-02). But, there's also a 12 LED RC Lighting Kit out there obviously made by Tamiya, though not advertised as such. With the MFC-02 (primary) and the 12 LED option (secondary) there are so many light options, it's proving difficult to wrap my head around them. I'll get there!

    For my Tundra's trim, I like the bullybar and 4-Hella pods, but the funky rollbar isn't to taste. So, I ordered the K-Parts (chrome double-rollbar) for the Hilux kit and will do what I must to mount it on the Tundra with more LED lights up top. It should be possible to make two of them flashing reds/blues and I'm contemplating various other LED pods / puddle lamps, etc. A genuine Warn winch (functional) will be out front and I have my eye on several tools and accessories for realism... noted: Fuel cans, shovels, high-lift jack, cooler, gas cans, fire wood, tiny house -- all awesome!

    I also have a dated Stinger V-bottom speed boat (RC) which surely belongs behind the Tundra High Lift. It has two speeds: Normal and Screaming Fast! Just need to figure out a proper trailer for it. Then, there's the RedCat 1/10 scale trailer, although I can't find an acceptable scale version of my 1970 Nova SS which should be perched on it. (For that, I might resort to 1/25 scale w/o RC)

    Progress...

    I pulled the Stinger RC boat (24") off the shelf and dry tested. Still works with new NiMH batteries plugged in! It uses dual motors on the drive shaft and switches the batteries between series (slow) and parallel (fast). A little research doesn't show it on the webs. There is a similar Stinger SS, which has two mariners aboard. I prefer it without them. Will look into a trailer, restoration (clean-up - paint might be a bad idea!) and possible upgrades of the radio, ESC and motors. Most RC fun I ever had was taking my son, this Stinger and our trout rods to local lakes #25 years ago. He just got a 2019 TRD Pro Tacoma. Might send him an RC Tacoma for his B-day this year.
    (Shhh... Don't tell him)

    20240312_210815-sm.jpg

    The Tundra is coming along: Had a dead fog light (pass side) which was a frayed wire at the LED that took a bit to fix. Paint plan was black with chameleon flake (gold/orange/purple/red). All lenses smoked. Won't be any sun until the weekend for a good look/pic. It's acceptable, although I may source another body which I'd prime and color sand before painting. Tamiya base paints are flat for clear bodies and all together, there's a bit too much flake and clear topping the black base intended. (Prime & sand - don't be too eager!)

    20240312_212540-sm.jpg

    I found the boat! Great Planes Stinger - makes sense as I likely bought it at the hobby store where I also bought my Sig Citabria - built with a 4-stroke Saito FA-72 - still haven't learned to fly!

    I suggest to order a Tamiya 5100 Hi Torque Servo Saver for your steering. I broke the stock servo saver within the first 10 minutes of driving my Tundra Hi Lift, bummer.
