agree the traxxas slash/stampede platforms are great for starters. I got a cheap one and probably only 10% of it is original parts. Learned how to solder too. I like it so much I got a rally car and turned it into a 1/8 street car. I haven't fired these up in over 5 years. Probably need a new 3s battery.

 

Fix that thing up lol I have 3 slash ultimates. But need something bigger now. My boys love them

 

Really like that Rally car! I bet it’s a blast

 

the added length, lowered stance, 1/8 electronics and many xo1 parts it is scary fast, it also breaks fast wich helps limiting crashes. I let the kids drive it at like 30% throttle limited on the radio.

you actually learn a lot on how to work on real trucks when it comes to suspension/camber/clutches/gearing etc...

Always wanted a nitro car but never got around to gettin one.
No places to race it either around here.
Not the off road ones, the asphalt GTs.

 

they're very finnicky to get tuned correctly and constantly need adjustments. I do like the idea of the old school nature of them. Electric is just so much easier. you'll spend more time playing with them than fixing them vs nitro. Just have to invest in good batteries and a lipo charger.

 

Just ordered all new RPM A Arms intending to keep the stock stuff as spares, now I’ll be wasting $199!

 

Wifey gave me an early Xmas gift…the detail is incredible! And it Was the exact color and model of my first vehicle.

Had 3 nitros for years. T-maxx, 1 rc10gt with an OS motor and 1 rc10gt with a traxxas 2.5r motor in it (that thing hauled ass!). Nothing beats the smell of nitro but over the years I got tired of buying/storing nitro, glow plugs and the constant need of tuning.



sold all them a few years ago and bought a traxxas slash 4x4. I’ve put WAY too much money into this one. Broke the stock plastic driveshafts immediately after motor/esc upgrade. Tried the upgraded traxxas ones and broke the two back ones pretty quick also. Replaced the broke ones with mip cvd’s, seem to be the only thing that can handle the power. It hauls ass and will do backflips if your not careful with the throttle.

 

When I was a kid I had a Kyosho Mint Las Vegas with an O.S. 21. That thing would rip grass out...roots and all.

 

Oh I bet! I believe my OS was an 18 which was a heck of a lot better than the stock 15

 

I have been watching upgrade vids for the last 2 hours for my Traxxas UDR

 

I used to have a couple of HPI Savage monster trucks...one had a Picco.....talk about running like a raped ape.

 

That UDR is a nice setup. The Maxx is a fast truck too. I need to get my XMaxx running again.

 

Haven’t ran my slash in a couple years since I break something on it every time I run it, so I’ve been out of the loop on what’s out there. Just looked up that udr, that thing looks bad ass!! 6s….

Heard a lot of good stuff about picco back in the day when I was into nitro. Never got to try one though

 

I haven't ran my Slash in a while either. I regeared it and have bigger wheels and tires on it.

 

I asked the guys at RC shop what's common to upgrade, parts ordered online, but yeah it's fun
