Do any of you guys know what these are for and what they are worth? They are an aluminum rim and very well made.

I had a bunch of these at one point. With all the weights.

I got my axle extension kit and put it on. No instructions of course. Here is what it comes with:

    4x brass hub extensions
    4x brass axle nuts
    4x slightly longer hub pins
2x brass spindles (don't listen to reviews, these are side specific)
4x brass sleeves for spindle bolts (let's call them bolts)
    4x spindle bolts
    1x bastardly small Allen key

You will need a 4mm socket and the supplied Allen key.

I failed to take a pic of the kit but if you check the link you'll see it.

I started on the rear. Grip the tire and use the 4mm to loosen and remove the axle nut. You won't need it anymore but save it anyway. Pull the wheel off the axle, inside the wheel is a her adapter with a slit for the axle pin, pop that out of the wheel. You won't need that either so store it. Pull the pin from the axle and store that too. The kit comes with slightly longer ones and I suspect you'll want them. Here is the axle right before I removed the pin.
    20210813_164600.jpg

Now insert the new pin and put the brass hub extension on slit side down. You will notice that the axle bolt sits flush. The new axle nuts have a deep threaded piece and a nut on the end. It will go through your wheel and into the brass extension, then will thread onto the axle bolt. I did have to put the nut in my socket and slightly reem the wheel hub opening, its slightly too tight but will pop through if you work it a bit. Repeat for the other side.
    20210813_165055.jpg

Now the front is a bit more challenging, I did one side at a time. Use the 4mm socket again to remove the wheel, pull the wheel and remove those her adapters and axle pins, store them. The pitman arm or tie rod has a captive bolt, this was nice to see. Remove that first. Then remove the top bolt in the spindle, your body mount might be in the way but work around it or remove them too. Next flip the truck over and remove the lower spindle bolt. Pull the assembly off carefully, remove the bearings and the short axle stub. Good time to clean crap out.

Examine the two brass spindles and decide which one matches the side you just removed. Install the short axle shaft with bearings and carefully slide the assembly on, align the slit with the inner pin and align the spindle holes with the axle holes. The bolts for this have knurled edges which would be nice if you had fairy fingers, I have skinny fingers and found that feature useless.
    20210813_171303.jpg

Side the brass sleeve on the bolt, put the lower bolt in first and tighten it until the brass sleeve is all in. Flip the truck and do the same on the upper bolt, then attach your pitman arm. Put in the longer axle pin, the brass hub extension, the wheel and the new long bolt.
    20210813_170449.jpg

Repeat on the other side. Safety first, always slide the tire under the axle.
    20210813_171255.jpg

Blurry pic of the hub extension on the spindle
    20210813_171517.jpg

Now check out your new stance and the bonus of the tuff looking brass axle nuts. This pushed the wheels out about .5" per side.

I drove it for a bit on my little rock pile, it absolutely made a big difference. I was sure the front end would be better but was skeptical of the rear. I was able to climb a lot easier and even balance on two wheels. It did take away some turning radius but thats probably a good thing, it is a bit less twitchy on rocks.

Traction is improved as well, the overall weight is noticeable. Unlike the kit my brother got, which was basically wheel weights and spindles, I didn't see a real loss in speed. I raced him before doing this mod and he couldn't keep up.

I do have some concerns about the weight and leverage on the little axle bolts. Time will tell if they can handle the stress. If you have aftermarket aluminum wheels I don't know if the axle bolt will fit through the hub. Hopefully because I might get aluminum wheels.

Overall for $18 I think this is worth doing. Took me 10 minutes to figure out how to install it and 15 minutes to do. Now I have plans to move the front bumper in for better approach angle and fab up a skid plate. Sliders are also on my mind.

The bad news is, no amount of traction or articulation could help me escape Tuco. He was on full attack.

Finally got some cr2032s for my winch remote, and no worky. Plugged my buddies reciever box to it, and the winch worked, got my remote to bind with my box, so remote works. Gonna open the reciever box and see if i can see any issues.

winch works! Loose wire in the connector.

the pneumatic big ones are cheaters. The second set has 8 tiny bolts to hold the centercaps on, and are a pita. The black 5 lug are stock vaterra tires with the little tires foams inside and extra soft. The little ones are on the stock vaterra wheels with bigger foams and were gonna be for a trailer i havent built yet.

Yeah but do you guys use an impact to mount those tires?

    @FirstGenVol would :anonymous:

I'll look for my tires when I get a moment and show off but @fisherman951 has me beat in numbers.

My slash and rustler pile. I have 4 of each tire shown except 2 paddles and 2 front tires that work with the paddles. Need to get that old rustler working again but it needs so much I may as well buy a new one.

with a little bit of trimming i can make both batteries fit the axle mounted tray. I could swap batteries when the first gets dull and run the winch seperate. as opposed to finding a bigger shory pack, cause i have to carry a spare anyway. Buddies trx battery is 6500.
