Totally! My kid just watched a 6s kraton doing backflips at the park. She was drooling

    I recommend it. It’s a blast.

they also have the 1/16 revo which if I’m being honest is a little better. It’s faster out the box and handles grass and bumps a lot better.

Most of the parks we have to drive in have lots of hard pack dirt. I can’t decide if doing a locked diff would help or hurt my 2wd slash. I already do enough donuts when trying to turn

Yeah a locked 2wd is a doughnut machine if you can't modulate the throttle to prevent breakaway. On the straight it should be good, but if you hammer it out on a turn, you will spin out faster if locked. I would try a thicker dif weight to assimilate more of a LSD rear, but keeping just enough slip to get traction. It never ends!!!!

That's the reason I sold my Slash. I had the bigger scale model. Now I just have the Stampede 4x4 and the Emaxx

I really enjoy the 2wd Slash.
I think it builds a lot more control and use of throttle modulation.
You can play around with the throttle sensitivity settings on your remote.
Also dig into your rear camber. So many adjustments to make.
Your steering dual-rate setting also has a lot to do with how snappy the truck is.

If you have the 2.4ghz TQ remote you should download the full user manual on the Traxxas website.

I had a Tamiya Boomerang, then a Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE, then an RC10GT.

It's something I always have an itch to get back into and build a track in my back yard.

    Slash upgrades last week.
    2wd VXL.
    -RPM rear bumper mount.
    -Hot Racing TE48G01. Bellcrank assembly.
    -Steering servo. DS3225, Amazon. 25kg.

I was mad about the rear bumper mount popping off everytime it bottomed out or wrecked. The mount fixes that issue.

The steering on the 2WD slash is a known issue because of the spring loaded bellcrank. I eliminated all of the stock steering and couldn't be happier.

    Sounds sweet @OBXTundra

im really considering the LCG chassis to increase handling and decrease rollovers.
Kinda makes it a rustler though so i coulda just started with that lol

    Alot of them
Brought out the X-Maxx for the first time in a long while. I lost gearing after 15 minutes or so.. The spring retaining nut came off of the differential. No idea where it went as it's an enclosed gearbox. I put a new one on and still no gearing. The clutch plate and disc separated so I get to order some parts.

I hated my latrax for that reason, I felt like if I looked at it wrong it broke. The a arms are way too fragile.

Yeah you could look for a 5000mAH 30c or 50c battery. Just make sure the dimensions fit.

Alright I appreciate it. I am going to troubleshoot some more. Should the voltage on a charged battery be 7.4 volts? It registers 3.8....I have no clue about lipo battery packs

Yes it register per cell. That means your getting 7.6 volts. Assuming it’s a 2s bat? Some if not most charge up to 8.2 volts.

There is some great info on the traxxas forum about lipos. Do a quick google search.

Thanks...it has been in my shed for years..I'll try to figure out what the problem is seeing it might not be the battery. Been a while since I tinkered with it

I would buy another battery just to be sure. Especially if you are saying it’s been sitting in the shed. Sometimes the battery might show good but they are fried. Hopefully you get the car running

So after a very good first impression with the latrax teton, I think i am giving up on it. My poor daughter hasn’t been able to drive for more than 5 minutes without something breaking. When she crashes I understand that an a arm snaps. Maybe traxxas has had a bad batch of them recently, as I have now replaced 10. The steering servo was grinding, the electrical connector for the battery snapped. Luckily i can fix it but hot darn it sucks. She ends up driving my slash the whole time lol.

if the RPM arms dont work out, im getting her something better. Thinking maybe a brushed Revo?

Where is she driving that she is crashing into everything? I have a 1/16 summit for my daughter and I set it to 50% in training mode. She drives all around the yard and woods and she hasn't broken anything because it's not going too fast to break it. I also put metal gears in the steering servo before I even charged the first battery, (this is very common to do). I'm not sure if the Latrax has training mode, but if it doesn't, maybe try driving it in a less precarious place? Or put some tape on the trigger to prevent full throttle?

On roads we use training mode, in the dirt ive been letting her go full throttle as there really isn’t anything to crash into. I’m wondering if she got hit by another driver tonight and I didn’t see it

@Hbjeff I've had the LaTrax Prerunner for about a month now. It's been solid. I run it on 100%. My 4 year old only ever runs it on 50%. Seems really solid and it's been rolled, a lot.

My wife loves that thing and feels more comfortable driving that than my Slash. Likely because she's afraid of destroying the Slash.

I don't have a bad thing to say about it yet. But I will also say that RPM is the way to go for anything that breaks. I always go RPM over aluminum. Aluminum just finds the next weak link, the RPM stuff flexes.

Combo post to avoid back to back posts:
What rear tires are you all running on your 2wd SC trucks? Primarily dirt and bashing. Some pavement. Really looking for dirt and sand traction.

thanks I need to try rpm! Funny you say about the wife destroying your slash. My 7 year old is the opposite, she takes my slash off the biggest jumps she can its pretty awesome! The smile on her face is worth some broken stuff.

On the tires. I recently switched my rear tires to proline bfg’s. I wanted the badlands but store was sold out so i tried these. I run mostly on hard pack dirt, i still get lots of tire slip when there is silt/fine gravel layer sitting on the harder dirt, but it is WAY better than the stock tires. The proline tire tread is softer and hooks up easier. I still may get the badlands for the rears and switch the bfg’s to the front when they come in stock.

The one knock on the proline tires, more of a slash issue, is that they are terrible on pavement, as they grip so damn well the truck is even more likely to roll than slide, but the 2wd rolls easy anyways. Dirt is more fun anywas

My latrax was a huge piece of junk! I bought one of these to replace it and have been so happy with it. Not much more than the latrax, but it's much more durable. Lots of metal parts and just better built.

    https://www.mckenzies.com/products/speed-rc-cars-robby-gordon-1-14th-scale-4wd

I also bought the Arma granite somebody posted earlier and my son hit a curb at full speed and it jumped the curb and nothing broke. The latrax would have completely disintegrated :)
