RC 3.5 w/ struts

I see a lot of posts from people who sh*t on this RC 3.5 kit, mainly because it is a spacer kit, and I agree that spacers aren't the best.
BUT
I'd like to get some opinions on this kit with the spacers swapped for the 3.5" lifted struts. Pic attached

Also, correct me if I'm wrong here, but it seems like you could add either one of the 1" or two of the 0.50" shims from CoachBuilder to get added height out of this kit if it was using lifted struts.

 

I had rough country lift on my F250 . It replaced the front leafs and added a small block out back. Truck rode awesome.

They get a lot of shit but in the last few years they have been heading in the right direction imho. That kit looks pretty nice and will ride better then a spacer. I would not add a shim on top though. Putting the cv's at an extreme angle won't last long

 

Would something like Readylift's 4" kit be any different with regards to CV stress? I see plenty of those around

 

At 3" of lift up front on mine with a diff drop I still rubbed flat spots on my CV boots. I definitely wouldn't do 4" spacer like readylift. Fabtech makes a 4" and Procomp too I think that comes with new knuckles and crossmembers. That's the way to go. The rc 3.5"lift looks nice but that is pushing the limits for me. I'm back down to 1.5" on Billy 5100's and I still have the diff drop on. Cv are almost straight now.

Is that with the new struts/coilover as well? I know you haven't had it back very long but how does it ride so far?

 

This is with the lifted struts, I'm not a fan of the spacer kits.

The ride is amazing actually, I wasn't sure how it was going to go but it's better than stock IMO. The truck feels much better now and I don't feel every bump in the road or have a harsh ride over train tracks/speed bumps. Definitely stick to the recommended tire sizing though, I went 295/65/20 on +20MM wheels where they recommend 295/60/20 on +25, I have a little rub at full lock on the driver's side only. Not sure if the 60 would have helped that much but I may be swapping tires out or just do wheels

 

Also, angles are great with the lifted struts in this kit because of the new UCA's

 

Would love to see a picture of your CV angles, I don't understand how upper controls arms would give you a good CV angles with that much lift.

 

Great to hear you like it. I'm looking at getting it here in the near future. Did you get it with the V2 shocks in the rear or just stick with the N3s?
