Does anyone have his Tundra coated with Raptor Liner or Line X? If yes, can you please post picture? I'm interested in it, but I'd like to see it first.

Not a tundra but a buddy’s truck sprayed in line-x without the clear 1B5EDF75-4215-4694-B6CC-2441F93F1124.jpgwithout the clear it’s flat and can get chalky if not cleaned regularly

Think of it as the last and only paint job you’ll ever need with no more dings dents or scratches.

I think with bed liner paint jobs it's never great in black (somebody get a doctor I must be sick). If you look up google pics of trucks and jeeps done in monstaliner or raptor liner in colors it looks much better. Black bed liner tends to look uneven and chalky, like a rough primer.

If you're good with spray paint and have a place to paint, I would spend $600+/- making your garage look like a Dexter kill room and get a DIY liner spray with a few gallons. It would probably take 3 days for all the prep/paint/dry. I dont make $6k in 3 days.

The only way to run glass in Canada on the gravel and the salty sand chip roads without spidering it. IMO

I think for that much money I would look into the ceramic armor. I think that's what Fotornr has on his badass Ram.

    This look great.

THAT is what the Army Green from toyota should have been! Looks fantastic! Heck, I'd like to see the Cavalry Blue done that way. Not sure it would look as good, but I'd like to see it.

Very expensive to remove. Once that's on it's like chipping off cement if you, or anyone that later buys it, want it changed to a base and clear coat paint job.
To remove that for puttying/painting over dings or dents, one will pay more than extra for it. If possible, to blend in new bed liner paint to match rest of trks appearance won't be easy like blending in a base and clear coat repair.

I assume you are referring to the ceramic armor? I hadn't thought of those issues, but wouldn't they be able to chemically strip it the same way body shops strip plastic parts? I honestly don't know enough to say, but just a thought.

But I did do chrome with Raptor liner with great results. My plastic/ fiberglass tonneau cover that was all cracked up did not hold to plastic? Six months and chrome covers still looking awesome! Sanded chrome full of scratches and used rust oleum primer. Good luck. D

No my friend, ceramic is the way to go over a clear coat. I'm referring to the bed liner paint jobs people are wanting done to their trks today.

I seen a used Tundra that was sprayed with sand colored bed liner paint and it was turned down by many people who knew the cost to have it removed for a base/clear coat wasn't worth it. Nothings free in the auto paint shop world, and for the extreme labor and cost of all materials to remove that coat of cement the right way will cost a gold coin or two.

Saw a local Cheby Pick up done in tan with gloss coat. Looked good. Not sure what product was used, but it looked like a thick textured coating. Light tan like the original truck color from the 80’s. Well done whoever did it.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, the bedliner is a PERMANENT addition for sure. Part of why I've held off of lining the lower portion of the truck. I like the protection, and the Cavalry Blue looks great with black highlights, but I just can't decide on a permanent line for it.

If anybody is going to do the whole rig they need to consider the weight and the fact that you are eliminating 90% of the market for resale. In other words, don't do it unless you plan to drive it until the wheels fall off.

What's best DIY bed liner coating for the trk bed? Raptor Liner, Line X or is there something else that's stronger?

If ya ever see something like that again get a pic of it. You think it was bed liner paint, or a custom wrinkled paint job like this? I imagine the clear coat was sprayed thin and thereby not smoothed out, or with quite a few layers and smooth. The later would be an eye catcher.

How will you be using your bed?

If using it like I do haul all types of materials and not worry about gouges/dings in bed, then a plastic liner/rubber liner over whatever spray liner you choose will be good.

Hauling groceries and the occasional bag of mulch with colored gloves then maybe do just a spray liner?

It was more of a ‘knock down’ finish than a ‘wrinkle finish’ you pictured.

Like it was rough sprayed blots and then trowel finished flat is the best explaination. Clear coat looked thickly sprayed to fill all those voids.

Is primer coating the surface after scuffing the surface necessary, or an added precaution to make it stick better?
The first option with plastic drop in bed liner looks good enough. Don't see a need to have underlying paint liner due to having a folding tonneau cover over it.
Colored gloves, yeah right, lol. Can't knock them though. The cops used to use them for directing traffic before realizing flashlights work better. Now they use fingerless tipped black gloves designed for anger management therapy.

This is my 1950 CJ3A that has been completely sprayed in colored LineX. I think I paid 1500 to have it done.
