    I wife got nailed with a ransom ware. Wiped the computer and I had 100% of her documents backed up and about 95% of her email.

    Seriously - protect yourself by 1) keep your machine patched 2) run virus software 3) back up your data. Paying these bastards is F'ing crazy. Also, remember you may have backed the virus up when you backed up your data. Save some headaches and have someone scan your backup before you reinstall your files.
