Well I ran out of gas in the Tundra...

Funny thing is the gas gauge was just slightly below the "1/4 mark".

The miles to empty was at 17.

I tried to start after sitting for a few minutes but it just sputtered.

Luckily, I was in a residential area, when I ran out.

I wont let it get below 1/4 again, normally I don't anyway.

Wow. Right below the 1/4 mark. Never would have guessed that.

I would think the same thing.

Not the first time I’ve seen a fuel gauge tank level sending unit fail on a Tundra.

I used to go off miles on my Tundra over the gauge due to that very thing.

So much for the fuel light:notsure:. What's the reserve mileage in our Tundras, 25 miles. I have been living on the edge.

Fuel Sending unit is bad. Had the same thing and Toyota replaced under warranty.
Ran out of gas with a little under 1/4 tank and the light hadn't come on yet.

That blows.. I’ve ran my tundra to 0miles and back to work and home .. usually after you have 0 miles left, it still has at least 4 gallons.. better start carrying a gas can :annoyed:

I have run mine twice down to zero miles left and have never put more than 31.5 gallons in the tank. Gauge was even with the e line both times.

Better have them check out the gauge.. cause it shouldn’t run out like that

I agree, I am guessing that it is the fuel sending unit. I filled the truck and it took, 27.5 gallons, it was above the full mark. I then drove around 10 city miles and it was already saying I was down to 3/4 of a tank left. I checked under the truck to make sure i did not have a hole in the tank, lol. It is odd, just this morning it was showing just slightly below full, while yesterday it was at the 3/4 mark.

I guess I am going to buy a jerry can and mount it in the back somewhere for now.
