I'd have to see it in person, but from that pic it would be a hard nope from me. That's seriously distracting. I mean, it could just be my affinity for buttons and pretty lights, but there's no way I could drive at night with that on.

As a former Rebel (first gen) owner, I'll leave a few thoughts:

    1. ZF8 was a great transmission.
    2. Interior amenities were ahead of the competition at the time. Seems to be the case with the new Rebel as well.
    3. Lots of interior creaks and rattles from factory. Lack of attention to detail in regards to panel/trim fitting.
    4. Air suspension was a cool gimmick, helped with clearance when I was parking in an underground parking garage. Always felt like a ticking time bomb though and was the primary reason I sold it. Lots of horror stories on Rebel forums. Also really narrows suspension modification options.
    5. Wasn't a fan of the dial shifter, YMMV.
    6. Resale wasn't great.
    7. The Tundra is quite simple in comparison, but it feels more "solid" and doesn't give me any worries about future costs or resale. Way more functional aftermarket options (at a premium) than the Rebel.

Keep in mind I was pointing the camera at it as opposed to out the windshield where you’d be looking if you were driving. lol
But it wouldn’t be for everyone .

That was the whole reason I traded my 2016 in on the 2019 the air ride that kept freezing in the winter . I didn’t have any creaks or rattles and I honestly didn’t notice any panel / trim fitting issues .

having rebuilt a few modern hemis i can indeed say they are hemis. Its why the make so much peak power but dont have the nice broad power band of modern pentroof 4 valve VVTI engines.

    - exterior looks
    - interior design/functionality for front seat passengers
    - seats
    - options to price ratio
    - ride quality

Could do without the badging everywhere and a touch less red.

I am really on the fence....something keeps pulling me towards Ram when my head tells me to run.

At the same time, Tundra just not pushing me over the hump to sign - despite being a reliable if unremarkable truck.

RAM: nice shiny modern truck with all the bells and whistles. Too bad all the good stuff isnt reliable. The 12 inch screen glitches (known issue), amongst other significant mechanical issues. Go to their forum. If you are okay with all the imperfections and willing to accept you will be doing warranty work, go for it.

Tundra: outdated , nothing shiny about it. If your looking for something reliable then that's where you should steer to.

    Choose your own adventure.

Ram vs Tundra is comparing a bar girl vs a small town girl.

One is shinny and dazzling vs one that will stick by you and not let you down long term.

What I’m trying to get at is that I ain’t looking for frills when it comes to a long term relationship. Nor am I’m I interested in something that has racked up city miles :)

If you don’t understand what I’m saying , good bless you and have a pleasant day.

Basically, the Rebel was a 67,000 dollar truck and in 4 years you got half. I would say that’s a brutal depreciation.

Do it man. You seem to have your mind made up. Not a big deal. You are gonna get people on all forums fan-boying their shit. This is a great forum that has a lot of people with other things to talk about than shit that is wrong. Bookmark this site, buy the Ram, stick around and enjoy the shenanigans. We don't care what you drive as long as you are in for busting balls. Let us know if you do ever decide to buy a Tundra.

Make sure they fix the open recalls, right now they have one for the windshield wipers falling off. I have had 3 dodge trucks and 7 dodge transmissions.

Depreciation is worse than that. Trade in value for the trucks are dismal. Dealers mark up $10K from their buy back. I know cause I researched the blue book value of a used rebel 3 yrs old and compared it to what the dealers are selling them for.

Ram is also sneaky. They make you think you got a wicked trade in value...but when their trucks are priced 10-20K over market value at msrp, that's how they trick you. I have a buddy that falls for it everytime...he wont listen. He gets a 45K trade in on his 3 yr old truck and gets himself into a 85K truck (In which a good negot and rebates turns into a 55K truck). He ends up paying 40K out of pocket still on a truck that's 55K out the door here before trade in. Lol god bless him. He was never good at math.

Love the bar girl analogy...best ever.

Get the leather & sound group .... all black interior with the Harmon kardon 19 speaker 900 watt stereo .
Seriously though if you don’t like all the bling why not look at the Ram Warlock ? It has the look of the 4th gen Rebel without the “bling”

It doesn’t matter to me what they say , I look at what I paid originally to what I’m paying for the new one . Out of pocket .

That’s not the point I’m making. The point is Dodge lists that truck as you say at 67,000 dollars. 4 years later a guy gets 35. That is terrible resale. Sure, you did ok, but for Ram as a whole, terrible resale.

I do get it, you did alright. But, the fact they try and coax buyers by listing some stupid ass price and then drop 20 off the top from their never ending sale is a joke IMO. Just list the damn thing at the realistic price. Although, there’s probably a few out there dumb enough to pay full price.

That still is technically a hemi (well kinda, polysphere).. better n/a

This is what you see in most modern engines these days. (Pentroof)

I don’t know how they are in the States but up here they give you the “rebates” and discounts right off the top before you negotiate . I’m sure they do it to make people think they’re already getting such a good deal that they won’t ask for much more .

My 2016 Ram Sport in snow vs summer. It was nice when it worked. And when it was cold, it’s was a crab-shoot.

But I’m not a hater, it was a honestly a decent and fun ride. But be prepared to be taken to the cleaners no lube when it was time to trade.
