I had a rental Ram pickup with a Hemi motor when the Tundra was in the body shop for a deer strike. Motor was strong and it was quick, BUT felt cheap inside and out. This one was almost brand new ( about 3500 miles) and you could tell it was already starting to creak and moan. HATED the "dial a gear".

Is anyone with decent credit unable to get a Tundra for $0 down 0%interest for 72? Pretty much standard offer around here.

Once you buy a DODGE product there is only one way out. And that's to pay it off. No resale and not something I would waste your money on.

For me it's easy; at the time, when I bought the last 2 vehicles, I was then impressed by the tech they had.

Until it started failing me. The media system I had in my '13 F150 is hands down the WORST I've ever seen. 2 updates in 7 years, constant freezing, call disconnects, echoing, and I could go on. I'll take reliability over the latest features any day.

Sync 1, to be exact, with that 4.2" screen. I hated it, absolutely hated it. My wife used to give me sh*t about it, "why do you complain so much about it?"

She drove my truck *once* before she asked me if I was going to replace the sound system. :D Conversely, even though it may not be the shiniest, newest stuff, even the basic system in the '20 Tundra I have is leap-years ahead of that crap. LOL

Thats that $8k we don't pay anyway. :duel:

Seriously, I got dealer invoice -$2500 supplier discount, $0 down 0% interest for 64 months, standard 24 months service on my last two Tundras. I'll keep the $45k in the bank making interest or invest it if things turn around.

I rented a Rebel on a business trip and loved it. Did everything better than my Tundra. Too bad reliability and resale are garbage on RAM’s

Funny...I had the same debate in my head. Test drove both. The ram is nice...BUT...its plagued with issues.

Many owners for the 2019+ new generation are complaining. Engine clunk noise, auto mirror issues, AC not working, leaky roof and poor leather wrapping in seats. There is a common theme...these trucks have some serious quality issues and it's the same issues arising and not one offs. Stay away unless you like nice shiny things that will break.

Oh and squeaky brakes and vibrations on hwy. Its disgusting. You will see a lot of pissed off ram owners on the forum for the same running issues.

I skimmed through some of the posts here. The Ram Rebel looks great, cool truck. There is one place wher the Tundra really shines, and that is back seat room. I have 3 kids, 2 are teenagers. The back seat space is awesome for back seat peace. Especially on long trips. The only other truck w/a back seat like that is the Megacab Dodge. They are awesome too, but I don't need a HD tow vehicle.

When you say the back seat in the Tundra is bigger are you guys comparing the crew max to the quad cab , or the crew max to the crew cab ? I’m 6’2 and I can stretch my legs in the back of mine .

As I have said before...I dont look at priir geneeations of a vehicle and take that as fact about a current vehicle. If we are going to be selective in calling a paticular model great or garbage - I could just as easily call the Hemi the best engine on the market - comparing it to a "true" hemi that was the class leader amongst its competition. The current hemi is a marketing ploy imho.

Do I think the reliability issues with a RAM are real..in a word, yes.

Do I think there is alot of whining and bitching amongst people who overpaid for their rides and regreting it now on the Ram side, yes.

Face it, Toyota makes a truck - stickers it for 45k-50k, gives you 2-5k in incentives...you pay on average 40-45k pre tax.

Big 3 make a truck, sticker it between 50-65k and then give 10-15k in incentives...you pay 40-45k pre tax...but the buyer thinks they BOUGHT a 65k truck every damn time it feels like.

You look at a book, it says your Toyota is "worth" 38k..you think man - thats great...I only lost a few grand. You look at same book - a Ram is worth 38k - they think my god, my 65k truck is worth like half its value now in some weird math.

As to why so many big 3 trucks being sold practically unused as used cars a year or 2 into their life...incentives and the buyers who bought them.

How many buyers bought them using employee incentives - and trade out every 2 years? I'd take an educated guess that this happens 5x more often than Toyoyta/Honda with any big 3 brand.

At the same time, the buyer of a big 3 brand is the kind of persona attracted to a "bargain" - they think they are swift, negotiating 10k off a sticker - which they cant do on a typical Toyota. So they buy, and when the smallest problem comes up...they do what bargain hunters do...they whine to the dealer for something free. Dealer shoots them down and then they whine so more to the interwebs and sell swearing they will never buy another.

Look at the "reliability" studies..see where Buick/Lincoln/GMC are then check Chevy/Ford/Cadillac. You wanna tell me GM/Ford give the "good" parts to the higher ranked brands and the shit to the lower? Come on..they are built side by side same parts...its all brand perception amongst the lemmings. Fact is buyers are highly influenced by dealer support - and Toyota along with Honda and Buick/GMC are good at it...the big 3 main plates arent.

I could stretch my legs out in the Ram crew too...but 'd have to do it across the opposite side seat. Even with the seat in front of me most of the way forward...I could barely squeeze in.

The double cab Toyota I could fit in ok, the Crew max I had ample leg room in back.

Although on the Ram - I swear the front seats go back FOREVER...Id hate to be on the bad side of the guy who had to drive with the front seat all the way back in the Ram. Felt like I couldnt reach the pedals with it all the way back.

The crewmax is more spacious...but if you want front seat room..the Ram has it beat in my opinion.

I ride all the time in a couple new Fords with their crew cab. Before we bought the Tundra, we test drove Chevy, Ford, and Ram. My wife and me both rode in the back seats. We both thought the Tundra had the largest space in the back seat. That is one of the main reasons we settled on the Tundra was the space for kids to go on vacations.

I'd get a rebel if it wasnt so damn poorly made. You cant really judge ram from just 1 or 2 drives. Drive it for a month and you will full realize how poorly they are made.

Not just the overall room, but the rear seats in the Tundra are the most comfortable. They are basically the same as the front seats, where the others seemed to have skimped a bit on the rear seat size and padding, and maybe just the shape of the seat. Others feel hard, short base and upright back compared to the Tundra.

While it's not the newest, a buddy of mine just bought a 2016 F250 Platinum diesel blahdy blah. He confirmed that my '20 CrewMax had more backseat room than his truck. I didn't believe it until he got out the measuring tape. LOL

I sat in the backseat of an F150 crew cab at the car show and thought it had too much space and that they could have transferred a few inches from the cab to the bed. But I'm only of average height. I haven't sat in the back of my Tundra.

Well, thinking it’s a dead issue for me.

Found a grand total of 1 Ram in my area I’d consider.

There are tons out there, but when I limit my search to hemi’s with the option pack 2 (8 inch display) - takes away 20 or 30. I would bet every last one of them is a rental being dumped back on market.

the 1 place that has what I would want..closed for Covid19.

Sometimes the market sorts itself out.

I had two Rams that were new. One was a Sport loaded and the other was a Big Horn.

The were both good and Hemi engines. I never had major issues. But I took care of them. Only issues were the following.

    1. Push start on the Sport didn’t work all the time and was annoying. But the Big horn had a key and it was really good.

    2. Resale I got so hosed on both.

If I was to do it over again, I would never buy push button start and I would buy most basic Hemi and save myself the cash cause after 2-3 years, all the rams are pretty much worth same. But the Ram was a good drive and drove like a car.

I also had 3 new F-150’s. If you look up the definition of “Piece of Shit”, you will see F150. Never again.

I’m what you call a stubborn learner and like to learn the hard way. 7 trucks later and it finally sunk in. Don’t be as dumb ass like me :)

I fell for the frills and gadgets.

The Tundra back seat is so huge. The kids can each have pillows, duffle bags, our two dogs, case of water on the ground, grandma, a skinned deer, etc.

Just playing devil's advocate: if Ram sells 10 times the trucks then mathematically there should be 10 times as many is the junk yard if they have equal reliability.

Just saying that the lower sales volume of the Tundra is a big factor of their rarity in a scrap yard. Plenty of idiots buy and ruin vehicles of all makes.

Going by trade in value , I traded my 2016 Rebel for the 2019 Rebel in November of last year so the 2016 was almost 4 years old anyway I paid 44k for the 2016 and the dealer gave me 35,500 for trade in although I do think the dealer was helping me out quite a bit . If you’re interested in why I’ll tell you if not I’ll leave it alone as I know this is a Tundra site .
