How many 5.3s with ~30 hp less than the 5.7 does GM continue to sell every year?

Doubt this is true. The most profitable vehicles are high msrp, which the Tundra is at the top of Toyotas price scale. Even if they only make $10-15k per Tundra, that’s 1.9-2.9B in profits yearly. Nobody sneezes at the B’s.

Probably more than all of the Toyota 3.5TT models combined.

I had a Jeep Commander and a Charger with Hemi's. Great engines for me, everything else needed repairs. I put 137000 miles in my 2012 charger and traded it for a Tacoma. Thank goodnnes I bought an extended warranty with unlimited mileage. 2 radiators, 2 alternators, etc. Did not want a Ram.

Toyota achieved the holy grail of universal platforms underpinning everything.

They spread the dev costs so wide they could sell 40k Tundras a year and still make money.

They made a ton on every truck they sell because of the cost spreading

Pretty sure the 5.7 isnt any bigger than 4.6 it is only a slightly bigger bore and a different stroke....they are both small block v8s

Well, yes and no. Globally, absolutely, but as far as US only sales, it outsells quite a few other staple Toyota vehicles. Also consider that trucks generally produce a much higher profit for manufactures than other vehicles (huge engine replacement recalls not considered), and the Tundra is a fairly valuable product for Toyota. No, nothing like the Tacoma or Rav 4, but a viable product. And yes, there are tons of different statistics that vary, but here is a quick one I could find.

If they make twice as much on a tundra as they do on a Tacoma or RAV4, then the profit to Toyota is similar to those products.

Since there isn't a big block Toyota V8 that I'm aware of, there is no small block either. There's no need to differentiate, it's just a block.

the point was that the block sizes are the same so if the 4.6 fits so should the 5.7 ....

also pretty sure the 5.7 is considered a small block since it is the block they used for nascar purposes and that would have to be a smallblock v8..

I think you're missing the point I was making.
The reason there is a small block Chevy (designation) is because there was a big block Chevy that was there alongside it. (Actually debuted a few years later than the small block. ('58 vs. '55)
There is no bigger Toyota V8 block.

I'm not a Nascar fan, but I'm betting the engine size requirements are determined solely by displacement, and have nothing to do with physical size.
