My guess would be 2024 being the second highest year in Tundra sales and 2025 being on pace to be #2 or #3 in sales for the Tundra.

I would guess it’s approximately around the same time Toyota started making some major blunders. Like for example the Lexus LS500 flagship sedan no longer getting a smooth refined V8, now the nameplate that started the brand is likely getting discontinued. Not so coincidentally, V35A main bearing issues first started cropping up on the LS500.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. Im just grouchy that toyota strayed from what they were marketing this truck as, when 2nd gen tundra was launched. It turned me on super hard. My cousin bought one, and I bought one, a year later.

    I’ve had everything. Old 4runners,
new 4runners, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen tacos. This is my first tundra. One ecoboost and a shitload of 400-800hp diesels. Mostly Cummins but a few powerstrokes and couple d maxes in the mix.

boosted everytime for me. Na motors suck imo. My dad has a 19 tundra and it’s nice no doubt and sounds good, but it’s not even close comparing that to my 25 in driveablility and performance. Twin turbo all day for me.

not to mention every diesel and gas truck I’ve owned from the big 3 has been complete shit quality, besides the Cummins engines itself. You couldn’t pay me to buy a modern ram, Stelantis ruined everything for them forever. Interiors looks pretty, trucks are pure dogshit quality.

I hate to tell you what you already know-tundra is a sideline almost hobby business for toyota.why do you think they wait 10-14 years to do new models

Yep THiS. Tacoma is a segment leader and the focus was there for this design cycle.

Tundra is back of the back in sales and they realized blazing new trails won't change that because they tried on 2007 and it didn't pay off in a meaningful way.

Had a dodge charger, 5.7 and 8 or 10 speed trans loved it. It was a beast, didn’t take it out in rain or snow cause it would reared would come out. I could get nearly 30 miles a gallon if I could keep my foot out of the pedal which was hard to do. It would drop 4 cylinders when cruising down highway. Wanted more power from a scat pack put it was during Covid and couldn’t find one so traded it and my 04 tundra in for 21 tundra.

    this ^ 100%

and a 4.6 or 5.7 would be underpowered in today's market.

for sure, this powertrain moves the truck around and tows much better than the 5.7/6 speed did

that combo would be underpowered in the marketplace now

I don't see any hotrods driving around tundra on two wheels. It's mostly geezer drivers who get overtaken by priests and camrys all the time, therefore being underpowered in today's market argument isn't relevant. People who want super power are limited to handful of vocals on the forums.

    I haven't seen a single aggressive 3rd gen driver.

To be clear when it comes to the hemi the customer base's attachment is primarily emotional and about the sound, a lot of them don't care about losing out on 50-100 hp and 50-100 pounds of torque

you're kidding yourself if you think power HP/Torque numbers don't matter to truck buyers, its why there have been horsepower wars since the beginning of time, and its not about "super power", its about why am I paying for a truck that is underpowered compared to everything else out there.

and its not about racing stoplights or on two wheels, or lack of you seeing "aggressive 3rg gen drivers", whatever that means.

Towing and hauling and overall driving experience is better with more torque and lower torque, no matter how you make (TT, SC, NA, etc). You don't think just normal towing is going to be better with the 3.4 TT Hybrid with 580+ lbs of torque vs the 401 at 3,400 of the older 350? Im not talking about racing, just getting the load going and pulling up hills, etc.

it will be interesting to see the sale numbers over time bear this out, once all the platforms for Ram are out there and available, the hemi and the hurricane HO. I also think price will matter, depending on how they structure what engine in what trim etc.

I drove the Tundra Asheville to Ft Lauderdale RT last week. There are some things I don't love about the truck but damn does it drive well. Quiet, plenty of seamless power and 21MPG. I've got a new Mercedes and my wife would rather take the truck on road trips. Words she would have never said about any of my other pick ups.
Came back with a long load and the gate down. Still got 20MPG on cheap gas.

ya, its a great road trip and also towing roadtrip truck, the powertrain just makes everything effortless. The low torque peak (2,400) really shines with the great Asin 10

but more power doesn't count now, thats the new one around here.

Agreed. It tough to go back to lower power. I drove a 5.3 Silverado and a Gen2 Tundra recently and that's not going to work anymore. Thank goodness.

Wasn't even considering Gen 3 when I bought used 18 months ago.
I wanted a trusted engine and vowed after my Jeep Hemi issues to never buy into the first few years of an unproven new generation. They will have to prove for many years that these twin turbo 6's can be trusted over time.
Not impressed with any of these new 8-10 speed transmissions either. Whole other story with the dealer who took back our recent used purchased Highlander which had transmission failure within 25 days. Certified Used, they say. Tried a new transmission and that leaked gear oil everwhere. We were then told a stop sale was put on those trannys a few weeks ago. Wife bought an entirely different vehicle after they took back the Highlander.
Toyota better get their crap together if they wish to retain customers who expect reliability.
Our 2010 Corolla is still going strong at 240,000 miles without ever throwing a code and still has all original parts.

Quality control, accountability and effort went out the window in 2020 because they could find an excuse. I won't leave any manufacturer out, everything is garbage now. It probably certainly started before that too.

Only due to cylinder deactivation that brings an early death to many hemis. Without that cylinder deactivation shit most v8 trucks get very similar fuel milage. I'd never own a hemi with that technology. I'm happy to pay a little more for gas and continue driving my tundra trouble free at 370+km.

When my lifters stuck and destroyed the engine, the forums were lit up about cylinder deactivation and engine failure. Maybe saved 1mpg over my Tundra.
All these added mpg "improvements" are garbage and costly to repair.
Certainly happy my truck doesn't have that annoying start/stop crap either.

Agreed. There's a reason the tundra never had any of that shit. Not to mention the overall quality and cost over ownership of a hemi ram compared to tundra. I have a couple friends with newer rams and they've all had engine issues or traded in due to other issues. on top of that, way more repairs than I've ever had to do. And my truck is twice as old with three times the milage haha and I beat the hell out of it. 3ur for the win. Such great trucks in their time. I can't afford a newer ttv6 anyways lol

Not a good time to be sitting on a GMC or Chevy truck either.
When Toyota announced their recall, GM said "Hold My Beer and watch this shit".

This my ram was constantly in need of some repair. The ram dealerships are akin to monkeys flinging poop at each other.

I know many people with Rams with miles with little to no problems.

The insistence that any brand is 100% bad or 100% good is inaccurate. Quality is always measured as a % of rural made with defects. Mostly single digit % in modern manufacturing

This is so true. Toyota could cancel the tundra tomorrow and not bat an eye. It’s not what makes them money.

You don't need to be an aggressive driver to use (and enjoy/appreciate) the available power.
I am a geezer, but I have yet to be overtaken by a priest driving a Camry.
