guys I’m sitting at the dealer with 2 recalls. Both deal with the front radar. One is where they put a sealant around the emblem to keep water from getting in and causing the anti collision system to prematurely activate and one is a radar software up date. They are refusing to do both because I have a lift on my truck. Now there are 2019’s on the lot with the same height lift. Anyone else had a problem getting this done?

Try another dealer if you can. I havent had that issue myself. Other members have though. Talk to the service Manager if you can to see exactly why they are refusing to work on it.

I haven’t had any trouble either. The are refusing to apply sealant to the front emblem that houses the radar. ( supposedly some leak and can cause the sensor to malfunction). And they are checking on the radar software update now to see if it can be done.

Update. The decided they will do it BUT they will have to turn it off before I leave and I will have to turn it back on ( liability). Hell I’ll just leave it off lol

My dealer will do the recall on lifted trucks. They will also install lifts but they will put several large warning stickers on vehicles that they have lifted. One of the larger stickers is placed on the steering column. The lifted 2019 sitting in their showroom does not have the warning stickers on it. It seems like individual dealerships set their own policies on what they will or will not do so you might need to find another dealer.

I bet once those papers are signed on the lifted truck in the showroom the sticker will be put on while they prep/detail the truck.

They did all the work. Just made me sign a paper saying that if I requested warranty work on the anti collision system and it still malfunctioned I would have to pay to get all the non Toyota parts ( lift kit) removed to repair the system if needed.

My goal is to find a dealer to permanently turn off the POS TSS crap. We can turn it off manually, but you have to do that every time you start the truck. I want my TRD Pro grille without the TSS headache dammit!

My dealer did it but made me sign a paper about the lift. No issues before or after.

I think Carista let’s you turn it off permanently.

Mines not lifted. YET. Wonder if they would still do it. I’ll sign whatever.

    (And what’s Carista exactly?)

You can sign a waiver and have it shut off with a scan tool.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. My truck isn’t lifted yet, but I just don’t want to deal with the sensor. Would love to just permanently turn it off. You give me hope kind sir

I got mine done just so its done especially in case it needed sealant. I didn't have any problems either.. I'll do small front lift (5100s middle setting) and 275 70 18 eventually . Hmmm. Duratracs

@KeetAz . I never had any problems with mine, before or after. I just Went in to have the sealant put on so I wouldn’t have any problems ( hopefully) later is it for water in it. I’m running 3.5” lift.

I know, I’d just rather get rid of it so I don’t have to worry about it. Relocation brackets when I upgrade my grille and when I lift it. I don’t need my truck telling me when to hit my brakes!

I luckily got the recall done on my buyback before they implemented that rule. Never understood their reasoning. Leaking sensor can’t be fixed because you lift your truck. Sounds like a cause.

My service guy just said let me check to see if it is still stock. Even though I still have stock wheels and tires, I did do the Bilstein 5100's set at middle setting with coach builder shims, It's noticible but the dealer was OK with that.

I believe there is a setting in TechStream that can be set so TSS / PCS keeps the same setting from when the engine was shut off, so if you turn it off it will stay off the next (and every) time you start the engine. I remember reading about that somewhere on here.

I had both recalls done this past Monday. Bilstein 5100s on the top setting with 34" tires. No issues here.

I'm still undecided if i will have the dealer look at the TSS on my truck, don't trust them working on it and I have not had any issues with it so far......

I agree!!! If they have to take the front apart where the sensor is i don't want to take the chance on a scratch because of carelessness!
