I kind of had the same thoughts about the plastic interior parts when I purchased my '07, especially when compared to the interior parts in my 2002. But it turns out that the Gen 2 plastics are just as durable as what's in my '02, and I'm nearing 300,000 miles on the '07 without cracks, creaks or rattles - good job Toyota.

I have a 2013 Tahoe and the dash already has 2 large cracks running across it and it is garaged 90% of the time. My 2000 f150 has sat outside 24/7 for 20 years and no cracks, fade or warping. Lexus es330 with padded dash has warped something terrible. I prefer the plastic in the old f150 and tundra for long term durability, but the scratching does suck.

Hey! I'm no wussy! Yea, I did complain to my mother "stop dragging your purse, with all the metal bits, against the dash when you get in." I then hit up the dash/glovebox area with the Armor-All wipes which hid most of the scratches. Heck, I just got the pink slip I own this thing it doesn't need to look old... for love aaa pete, my gorsh, it's gotta look perfect I aint dragging mom around if she is gonna scratch up the crap outa my truck I just paid off an shit... . . .

What's this thread about again? Oh. Na we are not 'wussy', we are the owners of the coolest color. We want our trucks to look nice. Reality check; every car I ever owned was plastic inside. Yes it scratches. Yes the dash top can warp or crack given enough heat and sun UV. My last Tundra had one of those dash saver material covers, kept it looking like new for 17 years in the hot SoCal sun. Now I park at work in a parking structure and it's shaded all day except for Sat and Sun so it's not as big a deal, but if it were in the sun all day at work like my last Tundy yea I would get a dash saver for it. As for the rest, well just be careful.

Treat the plastic areas that get sun exposure w/ 303 aerospace protectant. It’ll look better and last longer.

I use Adam's interior detailer. Good at hiding my plastic scratches. Scuff marks on the lower door plastic are a bish though.
