I have a 2010 TRD Tundra with the OEM yellow/blue shocks. I have almost 220,000 miles on them and they need to be changed. I found some takeoffs from a 2019 Tundra that are red/blue and say TRD Bilstein on them. Part numbers PTR13-34070 / PTR1334071. Are these the same? I red that red ones are sport but the owner says it’s not a sport. Not sure. I think they’re fine, but wanted to double check. Thanks for the help!

Red/blue bilsteins are 100% the Bilstein Sport shocks.

    Correct

Sports are red and blue on everything I've seen. Did they change it up for the 2019?

Has anyone tried the red/blue sport shocks? How do they compare to yellow/blue? Obviously everything will be better than what I have now. I got a new work truck (2017 Tundra) and that let me know how bad my shocks are on my 2010. Are these worth $200 including the upper control arms? Would they be a suitable replacement for my current shocks? I appreciate everyone’s help.

The red and blue will be a bit stiffer than the yellow and blue. That will reduce body roll and have better handling on pavement, but bumps and jolts will be a bit more pronounced. Still, any of the stock shocks aren't going to be anything drastically better or worse than the next.

The value of the take offs will be determined by their use. If they've been on that 2019 for the last 3 years and have 30K miles, and you don't need UCAs, then I'd say you're overpaying. I snagged a set of TRD OR (blue and yellow) takes offs with less than 10K miles for $150. That was back in April, though. Things might be getting more expensive.

I agree. I don’t need UCA that I know of. If they aren’t broke I don’t need them right? Truck is starting to ride pretty rough so I’m wanting to get it riding better. Maybe I should hold off until I can get a better deal. I don’t drive it a ton right now. I missed a set with less than 10k for similar price. Need to be patient I guess.

Depends on the mileage, too. If he took those off when he got the truck because he was lifting it right away, then $200 ain't bad. They are worth whatever you are willing to pay, and it's only $50 bucks. I was just sharing my experience so you could have some perspective, but I wouldn't say it's a horrible deal as long as the mileage isn't way high.

I'd figure that you are going to get between 50k and 100k miles out of a new shock/strut, so these would have 20k-70k miles of life left. For that mileage, I personally wouldn't want to pay more than $100 and he could keep the UCAs.

Check the marketplace on here as well. Lots of guys post up their take offs.

You’re totally right. My brain wasn’t in sync with my fingers and I was replying too fast. My bad. Very sorry.

No worries. I'm wrong half the time that I think I know what I'm talking about, so I had to ask if they changed it up on me! Would not be the first time I put my foot in my mouth.

There is. There's a search function toward the topic the page on the right. Go to the marketplace, hit the search, and in the search menu select "search this forum only" and it will only search that section.

If you don’t want to level it’s really hard to beat Bilstein 4600 shocks.

No interest in leveling. Fine with staying with the 4600s. Don’t want to pay full-price if I don’t have to.

I wouldn’t buy shocks with 30k miles on them. Even if cheap, they don’t have a ton of life left

I think that's a testament to the gradual degradation more than actual durability of the shocks. If you had replaced them 120K miles ago, I think you would have noticed a marked improvement.

That, or you are just really lucky and have things last like crazy. I've seen various kinds of luck for lots of different people.

I’m sure they are beyond wore out. I agree it’s a testament to the gradual decline that you don’t really notice. I only noticed because I got a new Tundra work truck and it was shocking how much better it rode.

You might also try searching any local classified ads as well. I know that the Utah/Wyoming/Idaho area is pretty solidly covered by KSL.com, for example.

OH! Cannot believe I didn't think of this sooner, hit your local dealerships up as well. Lots will do lifts to trucks and you can sometimes get a deal on the take offs from them too!

And any off road truck shops. Lots of people don't want their take offs and leave them with the shops that install their lifts.

I see that, but they were completely worn out 150k miles ago.

I had no idea I could get them that cheap. Where are you seeing that price? Any need to replace the springs in the front?
