I’ve upgraded from my 21 Nightshade to a 23 Capstone and I’m in love. The only mod I plan to do is add underbody puddle lights and I have a question. I did this on my nightshade following the thread below and it worked perfectly. The big difference with the Capstone is that the pedal light will remain on at night unless I switch off “mood” lighting. My thought is I could tap into the LED at the bed handle but wanted to see if anyone had done something similar. Thanks!

Yes, there is a post about tapping into the wires that go to the tailgate light. I used that spot (although on a limited) and it worked great.

the post I’m referring to is titled “Adding bed lights to an SR5”. If you search that, it should come up.

hahaha it’s just a matter of time. But here are some photos of the final product. The lights were $16 and the tape was $8. I just used black duct tape under the running boards since they are smooth in the capstone. Cant even tell.

There is a bit of slack but I used zip ties to ensure the slack occurred up behind the body panel so there was no chance of it getting caught on something while driving down the road. Then I just followed the existing conduit all the way to the tailgate. I was a bit short on wire so I had to add an extra few feet.

That was and is my concern is the loose wiring any chance you could take a pic of how you did it?
    if not no worries.
But that looks really nice man I may have to mimic that when the weather gets warmer!
I had done something similar to my chevy I used water proof led strip and mounted them to the "fixed" running boards 8 years ago and there still working.
For the rear end I used off road fixed bulbs that's why there a different color,I mounted them waaay up underneath so they wouldn't get ripped off when going off the beaten road.

No problem. Im headed out of town today until the weekend so Ill grab some when I come back. Looks good on the Chevy and agreed on the longevity. And heck, if it fails I spent $20 and 30min to put it all back.

For anyone that has added the courtesy step lights, did yall just end up double tapping the White Pin# 2 wire of the IN1 plug in the passenger footwell? If so, could yall post a pic of how yall did it, what type of connector/tap that was used and where yall routed the wires?
Looking to add the step lights in the next round of mods, thanks.

Finally completed this, the intention was to have lights for seeing the black running boards extend out at night.

I used the white wire from behind the passenger kick panel as the signal, fed through dash to the rocklight switch in the dash, from there to a relay panel under backseat next to the battery. The lights are KC V2 on one side, Morimoto Pixel on the other based on availability when purchased around black friday. The light units are attached to magnets from Temu, 300lb pull, allowing placement anywhere on the frame rails. While shiney now, considering the source I'm confident rust will take over soon. Wiring down drivers side was routed to passenger side where both harness came together at a gland/bulkhead fitting I placed. Serious consideration on using the existing factory bulkhead, chose not to as I didn't want to disturb the wiring while probing. Wiring from the added bulk head routed back to the relays near the battery. Considered add a bulkhead near the battery, area was already busy with the added relays.alys and terminal blocks.

    The results:

    Dig it!

I was planning on doing a tap with some VLED bars. Diode dynamic just came out with a rock light bed kit, that doesn’t tap any wire from the oem bed lights. I think I’m going to try their rock lights with that kit.
