I have the Michelin LTX A/T 2 (275/65/18) and actually I love the ride, smooth as butter.
I was wondering what's the right PSI for these tires? They came with 40PSI when I got this truck brand new in Nov 2023.

I always measure 40 PSI when tires are cold with truck in the garage and they go up to 42 or 43 after driving. Is that about right?

On my other truck 2013, I also have 40PSI with the KO2's and they ride perfect, being am on my second set of KO2's on that one.

Sounds a tad high. Are the Michelins E rated? If so I’d try around 38. If they aren’t the LT truck tire version I think you should run low to mid 30’s.

For sure they're not the E rated according to this chart. What I read on my tire is " Max Load 2601 lbs & MAX 51 PSI" so it must be the "standard load" and not E which 3086 lbs

Have you tried the PSI your door jamb recommends?

Not really, I got it new from the dealership last year with 40 PSI in the tires. Now, on the door jamb I have 30 and 33 which makes me confused :) Maybe 37 PSI is a good compromise? Perhaps doing chalk test is the way to go at this point.

    Front 30 PSI
    Rear 33 PSI

Then run them at 30/33. You aren't running giant LT tires; why wouldn't you go by the door jamb?

Never assume that because a dealership did something to your truck (like running SL tires at 40psi) that it is supposed to be that way.

Because I am clueless and eat whatever the dealer told me LOL. I will drop them to 30/33 and go from there. Makes sense and I appreciate the valuable advice here :)

All good. You're running the stock tires; you'll get best results with door jamb PSIs.
The only reason dealers do anything to your tires is so they can say they added "nitrogen" and charge you an extra $1k for it.

I had the same tires on my 2018 since new. Got 50k out of first set (could have gone to 60k). Got a new set then and have 35k on them now and will probably go 50k again (or more).

My door placard says 30/33 but I run mine 32/35 because of exposure to cold weather at times. Excellent tires, will go with same brand/model when these wear out.

Yeah 40 psi on a standard load tire will be over inflated and you will wear the inside of the tire out/take longer to brake/etc. 40psi would make sense if your truck weighed like 2k lbs more curb weight (caulk test would show even contact I would imagine). There are some funny “just rolled in” videos where customers bring in tires with 95 psi in them stating they keep trying to get to 100% full on the dash readout.

I just did a tire rotation today at 34K miles. My pressures have been 35F, 38R since new. 1/3 of these miles are towing. All for tires show 7/32" tread checked in multiple areas of the tires. I have the Michelins but don't think they are the AT.

My truck came stock with 285/55/20 KOs.
The was an updated sticker on the door jamb, @49 PSI.
Truck rode terribly and I kept it at 40.

Every oil change they would crank it back up to 49..

I run 33 front and 35 rear, but that’s me. Try a few different psi.
