I fell in love with those XRunners when I first saw the 1st commercial for one. I always wanted one but would not want a 2wd truck here in CT. Anyway I never got one but if I use to dream of a LS V8 w/AWD swap, that would be really cool but I doubt it's ever been done. Keep us posted on yours, it's even the only color an XRunner should be.

I traded my Blue X-Runner in for my TRD Sport. The X-Runner was a fun truck to drive.

It is still holding up to all the torque from the AWD drag strip launches, so I will leave it be for now.
Remember, the TRD supercharger kit was also available for the 5.7L Sequoia, so I presume the t-case is plenty strong.
Even if it blows up, it is only around a $500 part used on eBay.

seeing this fun project makes me want to really get moving on my Taco build. poor engines all ready to get thrown together. funds and time currently allocated to other project though!

hell makes me want to put the 3rd gen 4runner AWD case on the taco... i think i have one sitting in storage

I have 2 Tundras, both AWD converted.

The 2 door short box in this thread has:
Stock Tundra front, lengthened 1.25" and balanced by a driveline shop.
Stock Tundra rear (this truck has the one-piece aluminum shaft from factory), shortened 1.25" by me.

My other truck, a 13" lifted Double cab long box has:
    Stock Tundra front, unmodified.
Stock Tundra rear (this truck has the two-piece aluminum/steel shaft), the steel part is shortened 1.25" and balanced by a driveline shop + a 0.75" Coachbuilder spacer between the aluminum portion and rear differential flange.

The front and rear axles are unmodified stock Toyota.

Just came back from this year's last trip to Victor Island on September 1st.
Now that I am sitting at home recovering from surgery, I might compile some more video and post it up in the weeks to come.
Also going to work on the AirBNB listing, we finally decided we will be renting it out for around 8 weeks next summer.

I have a magnuson blower on it with a smaller pulley running around 10 psi. Also spraying meth. Gonna be going smaller pulley tho. And going as fast as I can. Might have to upgrade to a turbo later.

Here are the details on another little mod that is pretty popular on these trucks.
It is the SABM or Stock Air Box Mod.
Costs almost nothing and might provide 1 or 2 hp gain on a supercharged motor (I wouldn't bother with this on a NA truck).

Heh, heh...Good response to Project Thundra here.

Now that you're here, Viktor, maybe you can help give bad news to those wanting improved throttle response from their 4.6L...and for less than $100.

I don't think you can get a 5.7L swapped in for under a hundred bucks just yet... maybe in a few years when there are more of them at the junkyards ;)

Yep...big truck, smaller motor. If you want excellent throttle response, plan your purchase accordingly. "No replacement for displacement."

Interesting thread. I spend my days figuring out how to get more power out of nuclear power plants but this seems way more complicated!

9 seconds? What tires are you running? Hmm I think 10.6 are more realistic with everything available for a tundra. Unless you drop a Ls with a BIG TURBO, larger engine or something like that.

9.99 is the eventual goal. Definitely won’t get near there on the TRD blower, but it should be possible with the 2.9 litre Whipple and a shot of nitrous.
Right now I’m on street tires hitting 1.6 second 60 footers in AWD. Once I can’t hook up anyone, Hoosier makes a truck drag tire.
And I’m definitely not interested in replacing my built 3UR with a domestic motor. There is nothing superior about an LS engine other than the availability of cheap and plentiful aftermarket parts.
Maybe you are right and I never get there, but that would be due to budget constraints, not because it is physically impossible for a Toyota powered truck to hit 9’s

@ViktorG aside from money, I haven’t seen any shop that can supply a built 5.7 tundra engine (Heads, cam, Rods, pistons, block etc) that can make the power to go into the 9’s.

Aside from money, tundras are extremely heavy even after you remove all interior parts. Plus suspension needed to support power and keep the wheels planted is a whole different story at 1k plus horsepower.

I wish there were more aftermarket companies that can supply parts for our 5.7 to even get them to 650 + Hp.

Maybe one day! In the mean time keep it up sir!
