Does anyone know a dealer in the SF bay area that has done it?
Fremont Toyota couldn't figure it out. called a few locks smith that were recommended by the supplier of the card key from Ebay.
they said they would try but no guarantee.

YouTube publisher "Car Care Nut" has posted doing this to his 1794. He did it successfully.

Not to mention, I'm even using a cheap pirated version of Techstream from e bay .

I have a scanner that has these functions in the photo below, anyone knows if I can use it to register the digital key card?

I'm getting an oil change at the dealership Saturday and been in touch with the service center about programing one of these. They had just got some in, model# HYQ14CBP. The service manager was so interested he wanted one on his Tundra. They couldn't get it programed, even on a known new card. His FCC ID and mine are HYQ14FBX, IC: 1551A-14FBX. They talked to Toyota tech and they told them, for the 2024+ Tacoma it's VIN specific. Had zero advice for the Tundra. I think we're going to try it anyway. Anyone have any insight / tips on getting it done correctly?

I want one of these. I know you have to pay to play, but I wish it were a lot cheaper and easier to do. In this day and age, seems steep and complicated.

Well, they got it to work on my ‘25. Maybe it’s just hit or miss. Or could be based on SR5 vs Limited+ or something.

So I tried a cheaper price one from eBay that came with the blank metal key for my ‘25. Ran into two issues 1) the original metal key for my ‘25 doesn’t have a line through it. So when dealership cut the key it didn’t match because the metal card key has a line through it. 2) the card fob wouldn’t take the programming. Dealership tried multiple times and wouldn’t take. I heard this before on a Reddit post. So going to purchase directly from dealership and try again. Mine personally said they had done this once before and it had worked.

GTS+ is required and it shouldn't longer than 15-20 minutes. MY22+ Tundra/Tundra HV and My23+ Sequoia HV are 100% compatible with the MY24+ Tacoma key card.

Care to elaborate what GTS+ is? Is that still through tech stream? Sorry I’m new to this

I believe Techstream was phased out and it’s now GTS+ that the dealerships use. I have been able to get in the last version of Techstream and change some things on my ‘24 Tundra. It says it technically only has support up to 2023 models but it worked for me. Don’t know about the ‘25s and later. It’ll probably eventually stop working with later models.

I’ve been wanting to get this done myself but don’t know how to get that special code to put into Techstream to activate the key to the truck. Supposedly a locksmith can get this code but haven’t talked to any yet.

Works flawlessly in my 22 Tundra SR5. Got a good deal off of eBay and took it to my dealer.

15 mins later and $185 (ouch!!) I was out the door.

so you bought one of the eBay ones and it worked? So many posts I’ve seen people that buy the eBay ones and the dealer can’t program so they return and get one directly from dealer.

I just ordered the 8990H-A1010 part number from the Remote Wholesale seller on fleBay. Looks like it’s a good return policy. Others have left reviews that it’s worked with their 3rd gen Tundras on there so I decided to go for it. I’ll report back on how it goes.

Has anyone managed to program this themselves with a code from an online locksmith and their own version of Techstream for a 2024 MY?

Mine just came in today and going to try it this week or weekend. I have communicated with my truck via Techstream for other things using the 2023 year and it's worked just fine. Just wanted to ask before going through with it.

Okay, I was able to get to the final step where you touch the new key to the ignition to activate it and it didn’t take.

I can only assume it’s because like others have said it’s not the virgin OEM key. I’m going to return on fleBay then try and get a deal on 4th of July for the slim key at one of the dealers.
