Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
Once upon a time, a man owned a 2007 Toyota Tundra 5.7l. He loved that truck but one really cold day (8 degrees), he heard the trucks starter grind for .33-.50 second during the initial startup. The man was concerned that this might lead to the starter going bad such as it did in his previous 2000 Toyota 4runner.

He thought to himself "luckily replacing the starter is an easy job". Little did he know, the Toyota gods made this motor so that it was in a very inaccessible location. Why, why did the Toyota gods place the starter under the exhaust manifold and P/S pump?

He thought, "Hopefully this is just a 1 time occurrence and this does not happen again...".

He pondered the thought, "Can I lubricate the bendix without fully removing the starter".

    Can anyone answer this?
I would like to lubricate the bendix to see if I could make it easier for the bendix to retreat back into its case (without fully removing the starter). I really do not want to do this job, I let it go on the 4runner for 3 years before it left me stranded once. Luckily the 4runner's starter was easy to replace (like all starters should be...).

I don't know the answer to either question, but this meme came to mind.

Might be able to free it up a bit by hitting it hard. I've got a few military vehicles to start by doing this.

I do believe you're not going to be happy, but the Toyota gods stuck it to you once again.

    Not nearly enough room here!
Might be a "Safety Issue", like the deleted driver's side Grab Handles on the third gens:devil:

Excuse me, but the correct term is "mechanically agitated". I've used it many times in problem/resolution responses. :smash:

No but a girl has no name. "That man's life was not yours to take. A girl stole from the Many-Faced God. Now a debt is owed."

Well, "A Man wonders what he is to do with this issue". A man does not have enough space to get his finger in the hole, a man calls upon another known as 'littlefinger' for the task at hand. The little man known as 'littlefinger' misinterpreted the hole the man needed his finger in....

I have always called home at least an hour before i get there, so she has plenty of time to get that “little finger” stud-muffin out of the house before I arrive...

At 8 degrees, sometimes weird things happen. I would not worry about it yet.
If it happens again when warmer, then you may have a problem.
